How can i dissasemble a gtx 960 so i can custom paint it, i only want to paint the plastic red and black part im gonna use a technique known as hydrodipping http://youtu.be/pKuXyeAGzEU i can make my gpu look sick and nobody has ever customized a gtx 960 msi as far as i know
That is only if you pull the heat sink off, the heat sink that you arent removing here. Only the plastic cover over the heat sink should be hydrodipped.
Paint doesnt stick to plastic well, especially not smooth plastic. You would probably get more durable artwork from sharpies, literally.
why is everyone in this thread making it so damn complicated. Pull the plastic bit off. Hydrodip it. Stick it back on. That required a huge intellect.
I don't if you're serious about doing this, but if you are and if you go through with it, it would be cool if you made a worklog for people to see. Eventual mistakes is just a valuable possibility to learn something. My old GPU's plastic cover was screwed on, but thing may have changed now. Many (most) reviewers disassemble the cards when reviewing them, and they sometimes explaines the process. So I'd advice you to check that out (search for GTX 960 review). Maybe you'll find instructions for this in the instruction book of cooler equipments (water blocks e.g.). I don't know if you have a plan for this, and I don't know much about this other than having seen it on YT before, but if you can do this - do this! And then post pictures of the process and result. Good luck.
