Paid 10€ back ages ago (2 years?).. I've played it on and off for a while, then had other things to do (RL etc.).
Came back to it recently just to find out it won't update itself anymore (+ no updater exe), and there's no download link to be found on the website anymore, just links to steam and how one can link the two together.

Thing is: I don't have steam and I don't want their DRM bullshit, neither do I want their forced updates for everything, ruining mods in other games with no way to prevent it.

So.. Is there any way to get this game updated to the current version without the pile of DRM crap that is steam?

I just wanna point out that the backup thing has an old version, so don't complain about stuff others don't have.
tdev might update it soon, depending on wether he's got time or not.

actually you can select it to only update when you tell it too and i would advise getting the steam version its much better than the old one

Steam acts only as the updater this time around and not as full DRM. You can install the game via steam, close steam, run the game just fine. Or copy it to a flash drive and run it on another PC if you wish etc etc.

There's no such option in steam. It can only be set to either update games automatically, or only update when launching a game (which is essentially the same forced update crap, so why the hell bother to make it an option?!)

That's good to know I guess.. but doesn't help in this case because I won't install steam on any of my PCs. Ever.

tdev has said on the dev blog that he will eventually update the latest version to the forums. You'll just have to wait.

Well no as you can run the game externally and steam wont be present to force the update.

...which won't happen anyway since I won't install steam on any of my PCs ever again.

The backup downloads helped a lot since I was still stuck on version 0.3.0.5 (September 2013)

    To bypass Steam automatic updates
    A) Go offline
    B)
set game specific launch options to "only update game when launching." Next make sure you set Steam downloads to "never allow background downloads."
When you launch the game and it starts to download, Go offline.
    C) You can also try limiting your auto-update schedule to never, and Go offline.
