I think I'll agree with the third taillight and tailgate... But I'm not sure about the taillights; both the Caprice and the Taurus have completely different taillights compared to their sedans... If I make the taillights as tall as the sedan I'm afraid it will just look like chopped off sedan taillights.

I think the amount of edge split modifier is off compared to the original... I'll have to fiddle with it.

I realize the top of the d-pillars are a bit off, the upper part should bend in a little bit more, but I'm afraid it will be square as well. I think there are two options; lower the rear section of the roof a bit or make the rear section of the roof a little bit smaller. Although I'm not sure if that's realistic. See the attached image. I'll bend the trunk and glass a little bit inward as well.

That is exactly what I was trying to convey with an overhead shot. The D-pillars have a greater "horizontal" slope inward effectively "pinching" the whole rear end
very subtly. That naturally gives the roof a gentle slope downward to meet everything else. Take out the sharp tailgate window edges and you have that
diffuse kind of rounded look that tricks the eye into thinking it's rounder than it actually is.

I don't think changes to the width of the roof need to be very drastic at all to get the effect.

Oh wonderful. Ya know, this would make a pretty great derby car too if you worked some of your amazing magic on it. I apologize for all the derby talk, but you've made the best, most realistic derby car in the game so far.

Sorry to be so late replying, but to answer your questions:

PosiTraction is the GM limited slip differential, its been around for decades. But with the B Body wagons specifically, it was an upgrade included in the tow package. Having driven a Caprice sedan and the Roadmaster wagon, one without a Posi and one with, it makes a massive difference in how it handles launches. Roadmaster always leaves elevenses, and the Caprice liked to just burn out in a circle, one tire fire.

The rear frame bracing is basically hump plates and two 45degree cross members from the tow hitch beam mounts to the outer edges of the frame, making a triangle on each side. While not significant from a design standpoint, I could see this being a huge advantage in a derby scenario, as it would keep the rear frame from curling downwards.

And the model itself looks pretty good, but on the Roadmaster, the C pillar is pretty thick because half of it is the door and half of it is the front support for those giant cargo area windows. Also, those rear windows are two pieces each. They are divided into a parallelogram shape and a small curved triangle at the rear that opens as a vent window. The rear glass is also almost a rectangle, but the D pillars curve forward slightly so the glass is bent to a convex shape if viewed from its side edge. I also think that the option for the fold-under-the-floor rear facing jumpseat in the cargo area would be badass to see. Our wagon has these and its the coolest place to ride in it. My little siblings love that damn seat. The rear luggage area also has a huge glass roof and a luggage rack over it on the particular model that we own. I'm not sure if the panoramic roof was an option or if it came with all the Roadmaster wagons. I've definitely seen Oldsmobile B Body wagons with a solid metal roof though.

Also, the tailgate on the roadmaster can open both downward and sideways due to combination latch/hinges. It would be great for realism if there were two beams holding the tailgate closed and depending on damage suffered to the rear it could either fall down or swing open.

The taillights are too short also. They sit at the corners of the car and extend from the bumper all the way up the height of the tailgate to the bottom of the side windows and back lift glass.

For the D pillar, what would it look like if you modeled it similar to the C pillar from the sedan?

    - - - Updated - - -

shitty MS paint mockup, this is the C pillar from the sedan on the back of the wagon. This also makes the back window not so bubbly. I like it.

Don't worry, AR has been quite consistent with releases and I've personally never felt like his mods "take too long".
We'll all have this goodness in our little mitts soon enough.

Re: Grand Marshal Station Wagon & Police, Taxi parts

Modified the mesh again, many things have changed a little bit. Lowered the roof a bit, gave the d-pillars a larger forward tilted angle, raised and widened the quarterpanels, improved/smoothed out the d-pillars, quarterpanels and the area around the rear side windows. Also adjusted the trunk and trunk glass (Yeah I know the area around the license plate needs some work)

So the roof is been lowered, rear quarterpanels raised and slightly widened. The only thing I can do to make it less square is to make the d pillars smaller at the bottom, but then I'll have to or make the taillights even smaller than they are now or make the glass part of the trunk or upper part of the metal piece wider compared to the area at the height of the taillights. (the other way around compared to the Moonhawk Wagon)

Thanks for the info! :) The standard GM sedan already has a LSD, so that will be included. I already planned some hump plates, I'll see if I can make some cross members.
I'll thicken the c-pillars a bit, but like they won't be visible from the outside, like the Caprice. I've also noticed the rear side windows consists out of two pieces, even recreated it in blender, but for the moment for simplicity I'll stick to one piece.
Like the Moonhawk I'll make a rearward facing bench. I also was planning on a roofrack (also like the MH), didn't plan a glass roof, but someone else suggested a Vista Style roof, so we'll see.
And as last the taillights; both the Taurus and Caprice have narrow, tall taillights. I've thought about that (maybe stretch the lights to the edge above them?) but I'll be some work. But if I'll be able to widen the trunk and bottom of the glass making the rear view less square. Disadvantage is I'll have to think of what to do with the black portion of the trunk.

I actually like the roundness of the d-pillars, it makes it different compared to the sedan. Putting the sedan pillars as d-pillars makes it look like the roof is just been stretched... But I did decrease the 'bubbliesness' of the rear window and trunk

EDIT: added a few screens how it could look like if the trunk and trunkglass are widened, the taillights taller but narrower and the d-pillars narrower. Needs some cleaning though.

I think it looks fine that way, the rounded D pillars are more true to the style of that time period anyways. It's looking good

The slight drop in the rear roof makes a big difference! I think (in my opinion), that is the biggest issue in getting the rear to look right.

Can't get past the aggressive D-pillars yet. Would it be possible to soften them a bit?....maybe lessen the radius? Sorry if I'm being so
picky here, just passionate about it.:D Where the slope begins on the roadmaster D-pillar is a much tighter and thinner transition
to the roof and has a straighter overall radius. Maybe a thicker C-pillar would help offset the illusion of the "bubblieness"?

You can tell me to F*$% off any time here:p.

I wont tell you to 'F*$%' off as I like this kind of conversations... Look at the Moonhawk; I had a rather unconventional idea to put a roundback end on a mid size car. I don't think without the help of the community it would have looked so pretty. :)

What exactly do you mean with that d-pillar? Make the edge (green arrow in the screen) more drastic? As it is now, the curvature has a smooth transitions at the roof to the back, with an small edge with approximate the same curvature from the rear part of the left quarterpanel around the back to the rear part of the right quarterpanel so it looks like a whole.

I'm not sure about the c-pillar, the Roadmaster has quite a thick one, the Caprice wagon appears to have none (I think because of some blacked out window edges) I'm not sure if it looks nice and would still look like the wagon version of the GM sedan.

And what about the taillights? I've added a quick paint compromised 'wide taillights narrow d-pillar' version. I'm not sure about the height of the lights, I still prefer the wide version.

Thanks! :) I I'm also curious about what taillight/d-pillar version you prefer (and what the rest of the people with an opinion regarding this subject think)
