Lucky! SSD's are getting cheaper and cheaper I've got one in my laptop (factory installed) and pc (installed aftwerwards) and I have to say it's one of the best upgrades what a pc can get.
Guys i have a question i have a cooler master storm ... Rapid right? It came with a ps/2 adapter for supposed "NKRO" but when i plug it into my pc using the adapter the lights flicker very dim and won't respond or "work" :/ Any fixes like bios, windows trick etc. im using an MSI board with a i5 4690k and z97 chipset and i have the ps/2 connected to the one that has the keyboard symbol
PS/2 for N Key rollover you dont want to be running through an adapter, you want the native PS/2 port on the keyboard and native port on motherboard, and then the PS/2 interface doesnt support very high power limits for connected devices so some PS/2 keyboards also need USB power at the same time. Check manual.
Would it be worth it for me to get an SSD for just games? I'd like to be able to put GTA V and BeamNG on there. GTA V is pretty much the only thing I need to be on there, since it takes about 2 minutes to load up. What I'm looking for is an SSD that will fit GTA V and costs 80-100€ (about 150-ish dollars/ 80-ish pounds)
Day to day use, SSD makes bugger all difference except windows startup times and having chrome or firefox or whatever opening in a second instead of 2. Nice to have, not necessary though. Gaming. Loading times again. Wont improve frame rates particularly. In a gaming rig, I'd get one as the boot drive, but reserve space on it for only the things that truly need it. In my SSD equipped laptop, I have windows, chrome, office, visual studio 2013 and Civilization V on SSD. Rest is empty. I did try BeamNG, eh, decided it wasnt worth consuming the space and moved it back to HDD. GTA, that takes an age to load, I'd like to see that on SSD.
Yeah, GTA is the only reason I wanna get an SSD. Windows only takes about 30 seconds to boot, I'm okay with that. Are there any SSDs with atleast 75GB (wanna be safe for updates etc.) that fit in my price range?
My laptops 128gb SSD was under £80 I think. I dont remember. Hit up parts sites and take a look. Generally you tend to jump straight from 64gb (which once formatted will be too small) to 120 or 128, although I think I;ve seen an 80gb unit before.
HDD systems feel very slow compared to SSD systems ib general usage as well. And HDD's are loud, all of them. If you want a fast silent pc, SSD is a must.
I got GTA 5 (as well as all my other games) on a Raid 0 SSD config with ~800 MB/s and trust me - it won't help with its ridiculous loading times. Sometimes even other people have loaded faster just because they have faster internet.
Minus the fact that singleplayer doesnt load anything over the internet and still takes about 10 minutes to load from desktop. Internet cant help whats coming from local disk. - - - Updated - - - HDD Noise is not an issue for me, my intake fan genuinely drowns it out yet is only 30dBa itself. Both of my HDD's are mounted on rubber against the floor of the case rather than metal on metal in any drive bays though as my old case was, now that was noisy as hell. My desktop does not have an SSD at all, besides boot up times does not feel any slower than my SSD equipped laptop in day to day usage. While they are a very nice upgrade, one that I plan to get in my desktop, I do not believe them to be a substantial improvement in day to day tasks. Hell one of the only reasons I have one as my boot drive in my laptop is because I didnt really believe the existing setup of 1tb HDD and 32gb SSD set up as cache was worth it, HDD failed and needed replacing so I thought I might aswell upgrade the SSD at the same time but use it as a standalone drive rather than cache. Not entirely convinced it was worth it, but then at least we can have a civ 5 game going within 5 minutes of being sat in maurices lecture rather than 15.
My HDD is mounted on rubber as well but I can clearly hear it work. it's not that loud but it is the loudest component in my system. Opening maps and sorting documents is way faster on an SSD as well, opening big programs/games is a breeze compared to a HDD. My next upgrade will be an additional 1TB of SSD storage so I can get rid of the HDD.
I know this might sound like a joke, but it's actually true : My HDD is the loudest part in my PC. It sounds like it has a really bad cough.
WOAH!!!!! WHERE DO YOU LIVE IN THE SUN????? Are these CPU temps or GPU Temps if you know something about hardware u could probably fix this on your own like basic things like DUST,Maybe even deeper things did u build your PC if not u might wanna check thermal paste application on the cpu probably some A hole built it without thermal paste but if you did and you dunno run a malware scan or download Avg probably u have a background bitcoin miner downloaded from some random software BTW is this in Idle or in Load? external processes like a bitcoin miner can probably be like a infinite stress test however even so such high temp... where do u live? What is your ambient temp if it's over 100c understandable i think... - - - Updated - - - UGH the manual is a little 2 way unfold thing USELESS and so is the PDF in the site im ready to raise some hell right now yes i shut down and plugged in ps2 then booted Yes i tried diferent adapters YES i used the keyboard ps/2 port OM***
