Minus the fact that the ES300 is a Japanese car. We have japanese, 2 german and a whatever office was responsible for the focus (being ford, development of that seems split with brits, americans, aussies and all sorts working on it along with references to cologne, no idea what country to truly say it came from). The german cars are substantially better than the french in terms of accessibility. Christ, you want to jump start a modern renault? Got to strip the engine bay to bits, covers all over the place. Want to bump start it? ECU actively prevents that.
My A4 might be an exception. It's a pleasure to work on, aside from having to drain coolant+R134A and remove the entire front end to do fan belt/acc/timing job. Still only a 40 minute job to get to this stage. (imported from here) This is true. Fancy using a special tool to loosen the oil filter housing? IIRC, quite a few Citröens need this. (imported from here) You have to then to get your hands right in and carefully fish out the filter so you don't splash oil everywhere. See that thing to the right of the exhaust manifold that looks a bit like a motor mount? That's it. (imported from here) Idiotic French design.
I wasn't saying the es was german. Just was replying to the quoted user, then replying to the thread. I can see how that came off in that manner. Ironically, this engine is pretty damn painfully engineered. Well, the 1uz is my dream engine. What I have is the 1mz.
I removed the entire center console before figuring out that the one I had ordered didn't include the cutout for the armrest. My options right now are to either remove the armrest, or just order another one specific to M3's equipped with the armrest option (which was standard on all US-spec E46 M3's). I'll just leave the center console out of the car for now, because mad weight reduction bro! Also, I got some new floor mats.
Yeah dad was gonna change his own oil filter for the first time recently. Looked online at general process and thought out was fine and he had the tools required. Open bonnet on Peugeot, realise a) it's hidden out of the way with covers galore, b) as with the Citroen, custom tool required. Phoned his mechanic and booked it in there.
can top that lets play sopt the battery (imported from here) right, its that black box behind the airbox guess what do you need to remove the battery? REMOVE THE FUCKING AIRBOX and then the little pastic shit. you have that little plastic door to get to the connectors, but thats it. oh, you wanted to jumpstart it? yep, its a diesel.
Today I took my '97 F150 over to a friend's house to help teach her how to change her oil. All in all, it took about an hour, and it made me motivated to actually get up in the morning, so I'm counting it as a double win. I have my own oil change coming up soon, here's to hoping that a little maintenance at normal intervals keeps my truck as healthy as it can be.
I got the armrest out and test fitted the new center console. I still need a bracket (part # 51168235570) in order to screw it in properly, but I think it looks pretty good. I also need a new rear storage partition, as the one that came with the car is in very poor condition.
I re-attached some bits in the interior, such as bolts from the glove conpartment and the storage compartment above the drivers' knee. Feels really satisfying knowing that everything is bolted on. Also re-attached the radio antenna cable to the stereo which I've been to lazy to fix until today Not that I've had any needs to listen to radio channels, but atleast it feels nice to have it fixed. Also going on a 650 km trip on Tuesday or Wednesday next week to Västerås, staying there for 6 weeks. Got a summer job there that pays pretty good. Also attending Power Meet 2015 at the same time. This gon' be a great summer.
gawkerassets.com/whatever.jpg is off the internet, and you don't own a Prius or have had it burn down. This is a more serious thread to be honest.
-A little off topic but- I revved my car and discovered that my car is pretty speedy for a grandma car. (raced it earlier) PS the car was warmed up first.
Bled the clutch in the Focus. And here's the bad part; Taking off the MAF, and air delivery tubing until throttle, battery, etc, and then bled it. Bled it perfectly, 10/10 would do again. Put it back together, and sprayed the engine with the hose for a few seconds so all of the brake fluid wouldn't eat into anything else. Now, we put it together, would turn over but not fire. Now, we suspect it is the MAF, and we have tried every ECU reset systematic we can muster, and it still won't fire. It will sputter every 15 or so tries but that's it. Anyone more mechanically inclined, can you help?
I saw a BMW E30 with a 1UZ-FE at Bimmerfest 2015. Freaking amazing, was really good in the autocross too.
Most sensors won't stop a car from starting if they're not working/not working right, besides a select few such as CPS etc, so it probably isn't the MAF. Probably shorted something out when you sprayed it down with the hose. Disconnect the battery and let everything dry out, and check all the connections wile you're at it. If you get it started and it's running funny, then it's time to start suspecting the MAF and sensors alike.
We let it dry out for about 2 hours, and there's a Ford ECU trick, to reset it you disconnect the positive battery terminal for 45+ minutes, and it should reset. The gauges did a sweep when we tried it again, and still won't fire. It's all connected right, I hope. We reconnected everything we took off, now in the piece of shit Saturn to PullAPart tomorrow, yay. FUCK THIS SHIT.
