I had this card for a week, I returned it. It's essentially a 750 ti ti, the coil whine was bad, and the audio broke. Anyway, you probably have a better experience than I did.

When I had the card, at 1080p and Normal Settings, PostFX on, I could do 60 FPS on any gridmap, ~50 FPS on Derby and Industrial, and ~30-40 FPS on Dry Rock & ECUSA

I'm sure that at 768p you'll average around 60 on anything except Dry Rock & ECUSA, which should run at ~45 FPS. Oh, and I'm talking average lows, there are spots on any map where you can get 60 no prob, but also parts where you'll get 30 FPS.

wow i didnt expect that, how can overclocking affect my Fps or a SLI setup? does beamng support?

Nvidia designed the card to overclock easily, I pushed mine to 1560 with no voltage changes, and it seemed stable (after a 2 minute burn-in:p). Did boost a little, but not much.

But to address your concern: BeamNG just doesn't play well with maxwell. My 970 only get 5 more fps than my 960 did, but in other games it can consistently do about 1.5 times the frames. Other forum members have the same problem, and some people think that it's because BeamNG runs off DX9. I opened a thread about the performance issue, and apparently it's normal.

Also SLI isn't worth it unless you're at the top tier already.

Daaaang im paying what i would call top doller for the gtx 960 even in 4gb form and i still can't max beamng at 768p i guess i need to invest in gtx 980 quad sli and two intel xeons on fricken 4.5ghz each and 128gb of ram (sarcasm) this game is SO intense i wish they would, i won't say optimize like Everyone but like cut some edges like textures and some stuff that are pretty graphically intensive and cut it down a bit without noticeable graphic loss or something like that
    my 0.02

    Btw thx for Fast reply

You could max it out on less demanding maps.

Also don't let this discourage you from buying, the game is wayyyyy to awesome to ignore.

The GTX 960 is a pretty solid card. While I would have gone with a 280X myself, it does perform much better than a 750 Ti. Its performance is actually similar to a GTX 770.

So yes, it will run Beam just fine, should even get a stable 60 FPS at 768p.

yay. Btw i've seen you around the forums quite alot :D

yass i know that what's tough is the performance drop, however u can Totally enjoy beamng at 60fps and from watching videos i think the framerate gives it a special feeling like no other game its like perfect framerate
maybe ill just chillax and suck it up like everybody here and enjoy crashes and ai that chases me (i totally want to get ai up in this yuuuuus)

btw guys i actually still don't have the gtx 960 or a PC but im going to build my pc after watching billions of tuts and i've selected the best parts for my price (including peripherals) the peripherals make everything else a little cheaped out except for GPU and CPU luckily i managed to squeeze in a pcie 3.0 board with an extra pcie 2.0 down low for awesomeness

    Hey look, some sense.

Just because the 960 didn't live up to its expectations doesn't make it a bad card. It performs lower than people were expecting, but also costs less than people were expecting. I guess the whole 970 better than expected/cheaper than predicted kinda raised the bar too high.

I run the game at near max settings at 1440p on build #1 down there, and had a GTX 760 at 1680x1050@60Hz before that. There shouldn't be a reason in the world a GTX 960 won't do well at 1366x768.

I'd go for a R9 280X if you can. Also get a proper drive, 120GB is nothing. You should get a 1TB HDD and add an SSD later.

i have proper HDD 2nd hand from my old laptop 600gb and externals 2 1tb so the ssd is for windows exclusively and maybe beamng sisnce it's so awesome and i choose team green because the shadowplay in nvidia takes WAY less performance away than amd's equivalent and i really dig shadowplay and... low power consumption and temps of 50* :D- - - Updated - - -
ECA? wat is dat im noob

oh eca is a map ok

If you want Shadowplay or PhysX then the 960 makes sense. They are the reason I got a 970 and not a 290X, aside from not wanting to deal with AMD's drivers since they've been nothing but trouble with my 270.

    Btw #NoHateTeamRed

without them all gtx cards would cost the same as a Titan
and if were poor we won't have any alternative but to get a real bad gpu as in amd u can get much more bang for buck in terms of raw performance

Reviving my old thread LMAO but i just wanted to ask again how Overclocking this card ( Which i now have ) will affect my performance in beamNg maps like JRI and Hirochi raceway and ECUSA

Probably no difference at all. Overclocking a GPU makes no difference realistically unless its water cooled.

Cooling won't make a difference in performance unless you're hitting thermal limits, and you'd have to overclock the shit out of a GTX 960 to hit thermal limits with a Twin Frozr V cooler. Really, that cooler is WAY overkill for the 960. You'll hit power limits first.

A ~1400-500 MHz OC is very possible on a cooler like TFV of Gigabyte's Windforce 3X, but I wouldn't do it unless you need to.
