    Police Equipment - Screenshot Examples

I'm particularly partial to the Grand Marshal due to the fact it has a police package. Yes, I'm a fan of police cars.

The reason I'm making this thread is I'm curious to know if anyone would be keen on me bringing in some 3D models of various types of police equipment that I've had lying around on my hard drive from the good old days of GTA: San Andreas modding. I used to belong to a modding community that specifically dedicated themselves to modding police cars and such for the GTA series. Since that has pretty much died for me but didn't want to part with the models themselves, I figured I could put them to use here. as well as some that I am currently working on (As of today) and some that have come from other creators. (Credits will be given properly.)

I have lightbars, radio equipment, pushbumpers, and strobe lights of various shapes and sizes. From Aerodynic to Whelen, both representing real products to fantasy products.

I claim no creator rights to the models that I myself did not create. If this interests people, let me know.

Examples below are just a small portion of the lightbars I have. I will post a complete list if people want.

I do realize that there may be some controversy with using models that I myself did not create. This is why I'm posting this here first, to find out what the general consensus is on adding this equipment to Drive. I will definitely be adding my own equipment, but this is just a generalized thread about what I have and what I will be making. If popular demand, that is.

    Complete List of Lightbars:

    That sounds really great!
Maybe some of those undercover cop car "interior lights" and grille lights would be awesome too!

Off Topicish: I'm thinking of getting the game soon, do you think it's worth the $15?

I have those as well. From the old-style round interior lights from the good old days of the CHP to the dual-strobe flashers of the newer era of interior lighting.

I also do custom texture work of police decals and logos for police cars as well.

Yes. It is worth $15. I would get it soon, due to the fact that the more content the devs add, the probability of the price increasing... increases.

I'd love to see that Lightbar in pic #1 along with the Push Guard, the interior lights, the spotlights, and the antennae on the Grand Marshal. The current police version is okay, but it could use a little more work (and working lights). Also, if you/someone else could get the lights working, that'd be great.

My input on the lights idea: Make the spotlights turn on when on the brightest headlight setting.

And finally, if someone could redo the police texture on the Grand Marshal, that'd be great. I'm not a big fan of the default Police Version decals.

Indeed. They're not too terribly hard to create. If in fact Gabe declines the use of the models from other creators, I will simply recreate them my own way, and provide the WIP screens to prove that I am creating them.

Is it possible to make the decals in photoshop??
If yes I could make a decal texture for the GM(CVPI)

I'm not sure. I haven't gone that far just yet, though I will test out some theories and ideas and find out how to extract the textures and edit them accordingly.

    This is Great!
I'm sure some of us can use these, & many people in the future too.
We already have a few WIP Police cars being/planned to be made. And with time, we will only have more :D

These look great, would really work with the Grand Marshall.

I also think it is a good idea for a dev to give us a yes/no to using other people's models. (with credit) It wasn't allowed on RoR we don't know if it is on RoR.

If you asked and were granted permission from the creator to use the part, I see no wrong in putting it in the game.

I don't know much about it, but in RoR I don't think you could use other peoples models even with credit. I might be wrong though.

Ah cool, I remember I made skins for GTA police cars and I was pretty good at it, but my PC died and I never made something again.:(

Anyway, are you sure they fit on the Grand Marshall? Looks like most of the equipment comes from Crown Vic's.

3D mesh models. I can rework anything I need to in order to get it to fit properly.

The Grand Marshall is based & looks alike (at least size wise) to the CV.
I don't see any problem in using it in other vehicles either, all you would have to do is scale it a little & voila! Fit it on any vehicle you want.
