    Using Windows 10 for a while has also made me realise how huge the start button on Windows 8.1 is.

    Not that I would upgrade from 7 on my laptop or ultrabook, but it's kinda weird that I haven't gotten the icon on any of them or my desktop.. (Before someone asks, yes they are all legit copies. My laptops are activated using the 7 Pro stickers that are on them.)

    I do have a Bizspark account so I could just get Win 10 from that at any time.. Whatever.

    I ran all updates on all my stuff and even turned on auto updates on my desktop. I know I have the necessary updates so I really don't know at this point.

    I also ran all updates on my HP server but now Windows on it is completely broken.. Like, I can't boot into it at all..

    I have a question about that problem.
    Does it happen if you just have an nvidia GPU installed or does it only happen when you're using it?

    not technically upgrading, replacing my second install of 8.1 with it is more what i'll be doing myself, i just don't like the start menu, i prefer the charms bar and start screen of 8/8.1, only reason i'm doing 10 at all is dx12 and xbone streaming to pc

    You can still use a full screen start menu if you want with Windows 10.

    I hope it is. I will likely upgrade this week and I use NVIDIA's graphics driver.

    They are dead.
    But there is now a (cortana) search button on your start bar so you can still search for stuff easily. Settings buttons for apps will now be displayed on screen so that people can actually find them / realize that they exist. There is a button on the start menu apparently to get to PC settings that replaces the charms version.
    So although charms are dead i presume that all of the functionality still exists, just in different places.

    I think I'll use Cortana a lot, I use Google Voice Search a lot, just because it saves a bit of time and incase I can't spell something correctly, since now-a-days Voice Search is actually accurate :p

    The voice accessibility worked fairly well on Win 7. I haven't tried it on the tablet with Win8.1 though but i imagine it hasn't changed. In the same way that microsoft has had very good handwriting recognition for touch screens since the 2000's. But basically no one seems to use the handwriting and since the voice wasn't natural language and no one knew about it was also never used. But you can control every function and every forms application on a Windows PC with your voice.

    Oh yea i tried it on windows 7 i think one time.... Was crazy talking to the pc to open stuff ahah Open steam etc

    i know it will, of course being that the start menu and charms bar stuff were unpopular with most of the internet, it's probably going to be a lot longer then it took for things like classic shell to show up

    It's still on 7. I blame the cheapo Corsair SSD. (Lots of people report problems with running Windows on it. It spent most of its life as a data drive though.)
