Howdy guys, got to wreck my 75 Newport 2 weekends ago in Pine City. Was fun. I ran in memory of my friend who was slain in the Chattanooga shooting and my great Uncle who passed away just a couple months ago. I made a few mistakes on my first build, but I'm pretty damn proud of it either way. Hope you enjoy the pics Before I touched it Before After Was taken out by 2 brother's and their cousin. Apparently they didn't like that I had a fresh car the 2nd night of the derby... So got picked on pretty hard. Had a tire go flat, it held on for a while and then she finally came off the rim. After that I got punched so hard in the passenger door that it bent my 1/4" C-Channel door bar in about 6-7 inches, my floor gave, my seat went back into my shifter bar in the middle and hit my fuel pump, busting off one of the brass fittings. No bueno. 2nd run at my hometown show: Took her out for round 2 on Saturday. Was great to get to run at the derby that took a full minute of silence and even the pits went quiet for my buddy before we started the show. I loaned out my stock 400 and trans to his brother so that he could get his tribute truck done and run in name of his brother. I felt so terrible that the tranny blew right away and he lost reverse. But he was happy to have made it out to run. I feel like we made up for it in my heat when I took out both of the brothers that had picked on me at pine, and got to go head to head at the end of the derby with my buddy that also ran in name of Carson. I took first and he took second, I also got crowd pleaser award! Before After Now I get to straighten it out for a third run! The motor ran great and I gotta say that it was the best feeling in the world! -------------------------------------------------------- Update! Ran again in webster cleanup derby. Here we go again! Went to cleanup show to try and finish off the gray monster, this is the 3rd go around for this car. And surprise, surprise, since my brother doesn't have much money, and I didn't want him to buy me a gift this year, I wanted him to spend money on something that we could both enjoy. I told him I wanted one thing from him and my dad for my birthday. And that was to get my black mod car from earlier this year running again so that he could wreck cars with me at the clean up derby! Unfortunately, we found out the day before that the motor was junk and is only running on 5 cylinders! But it was already welded in and I didn't want to put in the work of taking it out, so he ran with only 5 cylinders lol. Got a few action shots for ya'll! My brother and I lined up right next to each other. I thought it looked pretty cool! Love the grayscale pic! (I know, there's gonna be a lot of pictures again lol) 19 total cars showed up for our heat! Good thing it was a big enough track so there was still space to move around once cars started getting hung up! Here's a little action shot as I whip a shitty around my brother. Ref is kinda in the way, but still a good shot Shortly after this picture I hit a guy into the wall and someone hit my ass end into the wall and I got stuck there, placing about 6th (they didn't pay down that low) IF I had stayed in for one more minute, I would've had 3rd place at least, if not more. Car was still almost as straight as when I brought it there (I may have made the sub frame a little tougher than before ) My brother stayed in though and he ended up going head to head with a pretty well known driver at the end. The motor got hot though and he ended up with 2nd place! I had a ton of fun and I was very appreciative to have gotten to derby with my brother out there. Was probably my favorite derby weekend, although my first win at my hometown show was pretty damn exciting as well! My brother's boss photo bombed my car. (He is the one with the red dually Dodge from the earlier pic) And here's my little big brother with his trophy! Was a blast! But I think I'm done for the season. Both of these cars will probably get ran again (unfortunately) I'm kinda tired of working on preran cars, but as much work that goes into these babies, It kinda pays to keep the same one around if you can!
Re: My Real life derby car before and after 2015 Oh that's awesome!! I saw a derby at the Dixie classic fair in North Carolina. I've always wanted to do that. Also sorry about your uncle...
Re: My Real life derby car before and after 2015 Very nice Mopower!...Sorry for your recent losses. The car looks like it's got a serious paint job on it, looks "classy" if you will. Did the t-bone on the passenger side bend the rear c-pillar up a bit?....looks like it.
Re: My Real life derby car before and after 2015 Honestly, I got hit a lot, car stalled after the first hit and 3 cars were tag teaming the crap out of me. But yeah, the C pill definitely bent in and roof went up lol. Looks dorky from behind, but the ass end packed in the way I wanted it to, so that's a plus. And thanks, she really "pops" compared to the other cars on the track - - - Updated - - - Thanks, glad you like it. And rock on man, Do they run hard in No. Carolina? You should, but I won't lie, I have some money stuffed into the sport and I'm barely getting started lol. The initial investment is the worst. No worries, everybody passes at some point in time.
Re: My Real life derby car before and after 2015 I've gotta' admit a love/hate relationship with demo. I love watching these things get wrecked but not a single derby gets by without the thought of an ever dwindling supply of em'.
Re: My Real life derby car before and after 2015 Weld patches a-arms forward since I made her pretty stout behind the a-arms and do something with that broken leaf to re-attach it, put rims on it, new fuel pump, behind the seat bar, and wreck it at my hometown show
Re: My Real life derby car before and after 2015 ok I am normally good with ID'n cars, what is the Make and Model ?
Re: My Real life derby car before and after 2015 It was a small arena but some hits were pretty hard, look it up sometime you might find some videos... I might look into it looks really fun.
Re: My Real life derby car before and after 2015 383, cam, valves, springs, shaved 440 heads. - - - Updated - - - Okay, might check it out bud
Re: My Real life derby car before and after 2015 At this moment my own car position is like this one: Now I am in the workshop. But I am very much happy bcoz my car was under insurance in South Dakota. In person I am working in an online game company for a couple of years.
Re: My Real life derby car before and after 2015 Really want to choose not to respond to this one, because 90% sure it's a troll. But okay, have fun with your game company and insurance in South Dakota even though you live in the UK. (Think somebody's jealous) - - - Updated - - - Actually, it's funny you say that. Because the night before, at the same derby, about 30 FRESH (And I mean only fresh) '64-'73 Chrysler Imperials got wrecked. I heard it was $5k to win though. I didn't think there were that many imperials left in the state of Minnesota. And those were cool cars man. Seeing all those Imps get wrecked did make me cringe a little. But many of them looked and sounded so damn good! My tooth hurts typing this out thinking about all those great, clean cars getting wrecked. Can't say I wouldn't jump at the opportunity to run an Imperial one day though.
Re: My Real life derby car before and after 2015 LMAO. - - - Updated - - - Geezus Christ man....30? My head spins! To be honest though my dream would be to have a museum filled with one fully restored and operational copy of every " boat" ever made and then the rest get demo'ed or used in a PROPER remake of Gone in 60 Seconds. I understand the appeal of fresh demo barges, no one wants to see a pit filled with cars that look like an unfurled ball of crushed tin foil.
Re: My Real life derby car before and after 2015 Just like all people become dirt, all old iron becomes a new Toyota at some point. Just please people, don't turn them into a Toyota before I get to make it a real car for it's final ride first
Re: My Real life derby car before and after 2015 what have you got against tin foil? I had to put up with it way before beamNG came into my life . OT, holy hell that was a nice car. Pity you got picked on, all that work and now there's more to do!
Re: My Real life derby car before and after 2015 I only support demo derbies if they use shit cars This kills me:
Re: My Real life derby car before and after 2015 OMFG.......I'm not alone. Those are impeccable. You need to tell this story so I can cancel next weeks shrink appointment.
Re: My Real life derby car before and after 2015 Yup, she was cleanest one I'd ever seen until i picked up next year's derby car It's all good, I had fun, and I'm hoping to get some revenge in a week and a half now that I've made it a little more factory... I mean, the car was made in a factory, the steel I'm adding was made in a factory! lol - - - Updated - - - .... Where's the excitement in using shit cars? Besides, this thing was about to rot away from all the mouse piss in some dude's tall grassed-field. Hadn't been registered since 05 ( though you probably can't tell from the license plates in the pics)
