Absolutely, I like them for the same reasons. They're honest American sedans that are tough as nails and ride like clouds. They're not pretty, but they're practical and last forever. When I see one today, they seem isolated from new cars with flowing lines and angry fascias. They just look like a functional car. A shuttle service around here still uses Town Cars that they bought brand new 7 years ago. Still going strong with 400,000 miles on them.

Well, yeah, they get the points for the V8, but not for the solid rear axle and full box frame. I'm sure that's for good reason in your opinion.

I think its because they have an image of authority as they can be scary to some people especially to African Americans (kind of sounds racist).

    Heh.
The "african americans" love these things. I've gotten complimented on it multiple times, all by black men.
They do carry a sense of authority with them, which is more often irritating than it is convenient. I once had a line of cars following next to me for miles on the interstate because the guy in the front was afraid to pass. I did them a favor and got over into the left lane and sped up to get them moving again.

I guess they find them cool but to some I guess they will find them scary especially if they have been arrested before.

there like the strict teacher of cars. you kind of hate them at first then after awhile you start to love them.

but I guess when a police force choose a cop car they need to choose something that will make you want to pull over.

now who in the world will want to pull over when this comes behind your ass.

Even with the Grand Marquis I can clear the fast lane on my commute to college. Set the cruise to 70-75mph and just let the appearance clear the road for me. At night on regular streets this becomes a problem sometimes. People doing 25mph in 35mph zones and stuff like that. I think my blacked out grill helps with the look.

its kind of weird that they sold the Crown vic in the middle east.

now its kind of sad no one has bothered to import one into New Zealand because I would want one.

People don't really care around here. Don't know what it is, but they seem to drive normally around me. They still stare at me though.
A neighboring county just listed a bunch of Crown Vics for sale. Couple of 08s, 03s, and 04s.
I wanna buy this one and flip it. Perfect for it. Decent paint, low-ish miles, full wheel covers.
Of course the interior needs a good cleaning and some work, which I enjoy.

the problem with buying ex police cars is that they are completely worn out.

I wish we had a car in Australia that you immediately identified it as a Police car. You see Commodores & Falcons overhear & the thought "Police car" doesn't even enter your head unless you see a massive antennae sticking out of the arse.

except, that isn't a traffic car. It's a patrol car and more likely to go respond to a robbery than a speeding driver

AMC wanted to make a futuristic looking hatch. But the car was hated to death. I kind of like it too tho :D

It never actually happened like that.

When first introduced, the AMC Pacer was extremely well received by society, despite being hated by automotive journalists. They called it a "greenhouse" and "a fish bowl on wheels". But, remember, this was the 70s, when people didn't bother reading reviews. Everyone who wanted a Pacer bought one, be them young or old.

The problem that arose was when every one who wanted one, bought one. After those people had received their Pacer, there was no one left to sell one to. After declining sales and on the verge of bankruptcy, the outdated Pacer and the Gremlin (both of which hadn't been updated in years) were discontinued in the really late 70s, early 80s.

There's a great documentary on YouTube tha explains the Pacer's lifespan in greater detail than I can.
