According to the map, the ones to the east of Northampton are restricted access. The central BMW one is open access, then there is also the Tesla super charger which is also open access. you do also have the option of charging at home but that isn't free of course. In our area there is a lot more, for example our local police force are using electric cars and there are free charging points at police stations, many supermarkets have charging points as well as multi story car parks.

    This sort of area: https://www.zap-map.com/live/#y=54.56006/x=-1.30491/z=11

But in the rural area below us there is very little too. So it really depends on where you live and work.

The supercharger is pretty out of the way for anyone except M1 users. Near me the nearest charger is actually unmarked, that would be the uni one which again is not public use.

I went and started up the '04 vic today.
It's got some pretty intense valve click when it first starts up but after 5-10 seconds it settles out and runs great. Some fresh oil will probably quiet it down pretty well.
The cooling fan makes a really loud knocking sound and never stayed on for more than 20 seconds or so. I think it's smacking up against the shroud. The temp stayed down so I assume that it's supposed to cycle like that. Mine pretty much stays on all the time. They made the change from a traditional 2 speed fan to an infinitely variable computer controlled fan around 04 or 05, so that probably has something to do with it.
That's all that really stood out, the normal police car gremlins go unsaid.
I'll pick it up if it goes for decently cheap. People on govdeals like to either massively underpay or massively overpay for cars. I could see this thing going for $800, but I could also see a couple of people running away with it and it going for $1700. I've seen it happen to cars in both better and worse shape than this one.
Bid is holding steady at $500 and the auction ends on Thursday.

My car does this a little bit on cold starts for about 1-2 seconds. It's fine otherwise. First start of the day is always a noisy one. I think it's normal for the Modular V8.

    Yeah they're naturally noisy engines.
Mine clicked pretty loud all the time when I first got it, but after it got fresh oil it quieted down and its stayed that way. It still kinda clicks, but its almost a..healthy sounding, reassuring click. If that even makes sense lol
The one I looked at today didn't click very loud at all once it got going, just on startup it had one belligerent valve or something. Could've been something outside of the engine, idk.

It's either the oil not reaching the lifters right away (which is the normal, healthy one) or timing chain tensioners (which sounds a lot louder and notably wrong).

Been thinking about this. I think it would make my car sound amazing with the duals. I already have the P-71 intake pipe so this would complete the short ram intake. According to them it would pull me up to around 262hp. I doubt that. Probably around ~255-ish.

Ehh, I don't think its the timing chain tensioners, they fixed that in '03 and the car only has 117k on it, shouldn't have to worry about them. I mean, it doesn't sound that bad. Probably the first time it's been started in a while, and it's been sitting since may when it was taken out of service. I'm sure it could use some fresh oil.
The 4.6 sounds awesome with a cold air intake. I let my car run once with the airbox apart and it growls. I definitely recommend something like that, just as long as its not ricey.
Oh yeah, I got some pics of my car parked next to an 06+ civi-vic today. Interesting side-by-side.

Mine sits noticeably higher in the back but about the same in the front. Wonder if its like that from the factory or if my front springs are sagging a little.

all my dad did was push the dent with a jack (this is what he said he used)

all he needs to do is repaint the rear bumper and the front as well

It is probably your springs. The P-71 is 1.5"(?) higher stock than the Civi/Grand Marq. I have bottomed mine out a few times now.

There seems to be a difference in tone between having the metal intake tube or the standard plastic one. The plastic one seems to deaden the rice-y tones.

This seems like it would sound amazing with some mufflers.

I've scraped my unstraightenable air dam thing a few times, haven't made any metal-ground contact though.
That is orgasmic. I've gotta figure something out on mine, but I'd kinda like to keep the stock look. I've heard of people messing with the snorkel that comes off of the airbox to get a cold air intake sound without an actual cold air intake. Idk. Heard stuff like that messes with the drive by wire cars for some reason.

What does ricey mean in this context?

Taking a meticulously designed induction system and replacing it with an oily filter that fouls MAFs, sucks up hot air, and sounds raspy with no actual improvement on airflow or performance.
All of that is excusable if it sounds badass though.

And often causes a loss of low end power as intake restriction confusingly aids the scavenging of exhaust from the cylinder.

although not all cold air setups use a pod filter, not all pods are oily, not all pods are cold air.
but yeah, any gain from the cold air is usually lost through acoustically poor intake tracts afterwards.

Well I have yet to check out that CVPI. I broke my phone and the guy who is selling it is at the lake of the Ozarks right now anyways. However there are several really nice thunderbird turbo coupes on craigslist that are in my price range...

If you're feeling adventurous you could always buy one straight from the government, assuming that you're willing to take on a project.
It'll look and feel pretty trashed when you pick it up, but with some simple maintenance you can have it looking and driving pretty nice.
Also, I don't appreciate Mr. Regular labeling all CVPI drivers as wannabe cops with hardons for authority.

That was kind of hilarious though, although you don't jerk off to the cop image. Just the awful paint and plastic rear seats.

It was a funny review and I know he's joking, but I know a lot of people will take it seriously.
I've already been accused of wanting to be a cop once today by one of my friends that watches rcr.
The white is a good color, the paint just sucks ass. I like the vinyl rear seat. Easy to clean and durable.
