if so, why would you go for a i5-4690K when you can get a i5-4690 for cheaper? Hell you might be able to go for a normal i7-4790 if it's not alot more expensive Also another suggestion I have is that you should check out the AMD R9 390 gpu's aswell if they cost the same amount as the 970's in the UK, they pretty much perform the same as a 970 besides the VRAM difference. Thanks for telling me though haha EDIT - Just checked on amazon, there is only £1 difference between the price of the 2. The 4690K is on sale at the moment. So would it be worth getting the Z97 and overclocking? Because if that gets better performance for £1 more (in fact I save a bit because a Z97 is cheaper than an H97) then I will overclock. Will need to learn properly how to do it though, as I do not want to risk damaging anything
Go for 4690K/Z97 then, but don't overclock until you need to. Especially not on a stock cooler (it's decent enough for stock, but gets way too hot when OCing). An i7-4790 is over £60 more. Also, the R9 390 is a 275W card, way too much heat to throw at an Intel stock cooler, in a case without much airflow. I'd rather go for the 970.

Oh aight, just thought the prices might be different there. Also yeah I forgot about how much power the R9 390 takes, in that case just go for the 970 indeed. Also, if you wanna overclock I'd also suggest you to get a different cooler, or to get liquid cooling. If you wanna get a different cooler I'd suggest a Hyper 212 evo, altho you need to make sure it fits in the case, and in this case it doesn't. I will just get it with the stock cooler for now and a Z97 board, so if I want to OC it I can in the future, but just buy a different cooler. I really love this case, and I'd heard about the 212 EVO being huge. Cooler master do some nice coolers though so I will probably get one of theirs if I ever OC

Yep, that's a good build. You could probably remove the optical drive, unless you already know you'll need it for some reason you probably won't.

i7, way too expensive for no real improvement in gaming, either go X99 or get an i5 and save £60. R9 390, good GPU, but using that with a 550W PSU is just insane. The GPU alone has a near 300W TDP. Add the rest of the PC, it's close to 500. No upgrade room at all, and you'll have that PSU at near peak load which will significantly shorten its life span. Also that £760 doesn't include a motherboard, with it the price is over £800, way more than the £650 budget.
I did put in a motherboard? Good point about the PSU. He said he wanted more future proofing which was the reason I added the i7 in the more recent build. He could get a 650w or 750w PSU for not much more, and downsize to an i5 again.
i7 doesn't do much for future proofing though, since HT barely makes a difference in gaming, not worth the extra cost IMO. X99 is better because of the extra physical cores. The motherboard doesn't have a price, it's out of stock.
