The previous avatar debacle has inspired me to try and make light of the situation... so, as a simple matter of curiosity, how did your avatar come to be? Have you been using it for years? Did you make it? What's its story? Just to try and distance this from the other thread as much as possible, try and keep negativity towards each other to a minimum. If you've got a problem with or are offended by someone else's avatar, PM a moderator. I've been using my this picture as an avatar in various places for a long time... I don't remember where I found it- it's appeared in various other places over the years but the article where I originally saw it is long gone. I just thought the image of a notoriously slow people mover drifting was just amusing enough to be a perfect profile picture.
Mine is the Martini Stripes with my screen name overlayed. Martini's iconic liveries have graced some of motorsports' most beautiful and legendary cars, so it's a pretty nice thing to have as an avatar. Steve is a temporary thing.
I just messed around with the mirror modifiers in Blender until I got something that looked interesting to me. It was originally blue and orange but I changed it since black and orange look better IMO.
I decided to talk about a few of my profile pictures This was originaly a screenshot of the Barstow whe it was first introduced as an in game model and NistingurA just did some edits for me. It is basically a picture of a spinner dolphin that I saved on my computer awhile back (I have tonnes of dolphin pictures I am basically obsessed with those marine mammals lately) my next profile pic might be something from initial d since I have started to get into it. I am a 2000AD fan so I went for the new 2012 Dredd considering the first 1994 Judge Dredd was a f**king disgrace so I went for Karl Urban because HE IS DREDD!
Mine is actually kind of funny... My friend was watching an Avatar tutorial for gimp and it was using alot of radial nonsense, I was watching via screen share as he had it on before that, I had been secretly following along in Paint.Net on an image that was 4000x4000 res. Than I changed the HUE messed around with some settings made bloom effects, added text [the S] But than... I changed the contrast and Brightness, it became something completely individual and creative... nothing like the tut... and again Paint.NET lol I love that software. In short mine was something good made better purely by chance... EDIT: oct 19th Did I mention how hard precision pixel by pixel is in Paint.net?
