*cough* Not going to happen *cough* Ahem they've used to Torque Engine for a reason. They have access to the source code, can completely change major parts of the game engine as a result because it is open source, meaning it is also free. They have done so much to the torque engine, throwing that away would be pitiful and just won't happen. Good luck. The "CRYENGINE" is also REALLY REALLY EXPENSIVE for a licence.
expensive? I saw cryengine (or at least I had that in the title) for £3.50 on steam about a week or two ago plus many many months ago gabe said the it was a possibility to go to cry once they have the funding and if tdev wanted too
I saw something different. On the page it´s only the subscription 10 USD per month. The full license cost they dont say
you're off by a few figures. Cryengine licensing for commericial titles (and the indie licenses have always been volume&income limited) runs in the 7 figures.
Isn't a lot of the loading time due to having to read it from your disk, so it the whole thing was written to ram, with 8gb, you could be able to get reasonably short load times with a good processor and maybe have like a 3x3 terrain thing, with the others when your not on them as ultra low quality versions of the terrains and stuff and i doubt momentum and stuff is hard to remember, so it might be a 10 sec load if it was all on ram, may be i'm just dreaming, but it seems possible
I think it would be pretty simple Time consuming but at this stage in the game they definitely need to consider it.
i never begged. Read the Hole thing. i asked Is there going to be an update. its been a long time since there has been one. tell me. how is that begging
If the one huge map thing was done, it would cause massive frames problems on slower computers unless there's some way around that like making a huge map in smaller sections that would take a second to load when you crossed the borders.
What? Why? Racing is a good chunk of popular driving, and driving is kind of what this game is all about. And even if it does become a, how you say, "racing" game, you would still be able to go into sandbox mode and do whatever. Anyone else see the logical fallacy in this?
I like racing games it just my computer isn't good with lots of cars loaded at the same time or big maps
Ah, I see. Neither is mine. Still, I would at least give it a try. You never know, you might get an upgrade.
