Yes of course, I begin with the more greedy version and after for the low version,I just reduce the vegetation density and some HD textures... Yes for vegetation I use dds for the mipmap effect...
Hello all! What news in Altitude? I have started drawing a sawmill. It is a commun industry in mountain. As Beam is a simulator close to reality , I have decided to do the framework of buildings the closer to reality! But for optimised I have simply remove the smallest details not really visible. The first building is a storage barn for sawn wood. The frame and the facing of walls is douglas wood as the forest around is Douglas conifer.
Ooh, that looks really nice. Personally, though, I think the normal on the rough wood texture is a little off. If you're using crazy bump to generate yours normals, turning down "shape recognition" might make them look a little more realistic. However, the chances are in favor of you using another program for creating normals, so you might just want to disregard my previous sentance.
Thats a HUGE emoticon! Nice map though, cant wait for it to come out, im running out of maps for use though
Yes !! You speak about insane bump for Gimp? It is what I use, also I want to sea the difference in turning down shape recognition but before explain your sentance with the wood... Is it too deep or rough? But this wood is old! So I test...
Man that is one kickass shack, very vibrant looking. I live in a land of Douglas Firs and perhaps the normal map is a bit too good. Personally I love it but in reality (and in a cold harsh mountain environment), even Doug Fir will get muted and subtle. The grain will still be visible but more bleached out and less apparent. That kind of specific realism aside I love it and it looks epic and rich. Nice work!
Ok, I test with no shape recognition, but no difference visible... Huuummm, that's right the grain is a little overdo on the texture but it is for a better ootlook , in reality with this depth the color of the wood should be grey and not pink because UV of the sun destroy the colors...But this render is possible if you brush the wood and use a solvent anti UV.... But all that, is just for talking ... So! In conclusion, just for add an opinion and for the geeks of details, what is the best render among the three screens?
That's right, I forgot about the Thompson's Water Seal. I like the first screen as well. It is a wonderful texture job and I totally understand the urge to make it pop. Perhaps real deep and spectacular wood texturing could be done on a resort cabin in Altitude??
Wow... this is the most anticipated map for me so far, you seriously are dev material for map making. There appears to be a lack of official map makers atm, only one so far.
I agree with you but maybe it is suffisient for devs, as there are guys who make it for free on the forum..
Never thought of that.. i dont think they are thaaat greety.. A but actually working for beamng would bring more official content and at a faster pace, therefore there would be more content and more people would buy the game because they would be like "wow! more content! lets buy the game.
