Wow. I had trouble completing the course, all on my end of course. I made an effort to keep my speed in the 40-60mph range, that helped enough to let me finish. I consider this a prerun, but I may not be able to complete an actual all-out run...
The biggest problem i am having, is how easy the brakes lock up. -> which leads to understeer into the ditch or something like that.
I found that I quickly adjusted to the brakes with an Xbox 360 controller. I guess I can see how it would be harder with that pedalset and having to hover your foot so far in the air with so little support - it's been a while since I've used the G27 though. FWIW I've been trying to do my hard braking on uphill segments - you can use a huge amount of extra brake force on the uphill sections.
It just kind of blows me away how easy it is to lock up both the front wheels. :\ Need to use 10-15% of the brake pedal, for it not to lock up.
I haven't seen a lot of videos in the thread, so here's one. This is the stage 3 run for the time I posted above. As I said in that post, this is me pre-running the course. Since I was having trouble completing it I tried to force myself to maintain around 40-60mph.
I am having the same problem with my G27, its something to do with the game itself, if you adjust the brake sensitivity down in the logitech profiler it improves slightly but if you change gear they still lock up.
I would've competed in this tournament but when I play these scenarios BeamNG is really laggy at about 20-30 fps when usually on ECUSA I get a constant 55-60fps.
It's a rally car, so it doesn't have ABS and the tires aren't the grippiest in existence. I'd expect the wheels lock up quickly on asphalt, but then again, I know very little of rally car performance. Anyway, thought I'd try the stage 3 track again (it's been quite a while now), record it and post it here. Went better than expected, as I didn't actually expect to finish my first try at all, but it could be a lot faster. EDIT: That doesn't really make much sense, the scenarios add literally zero dynamic objects to the map, only some static objects, so the performance impact should be negligible.
Just to be sure, I dropped into ECA in Freroam and pulled a rally car around to the Scenario's starting line. Same FPS as at the start of the scenario (to no one's surprise).
I better put my nose to the grindstone so that I can try and get out of last place for the stage. My odds are poor! EDIT: I guess I'm in the ballpark now. This stuff is really hard.
Ah, I see now that I missed the deadline of 12AM CET by a wide margin. Oops. Regardless, here's the video from the 5:52.84 run above.
Sorry torsion... Anyway, stage 4 (the final stage!) is up, see the first post for details. Good luck everyone!
No problem. It turned out that by the time I saw your "6 hours left" comment it was already over! I had my timezone set incorrectly in the forum software - by comparing the displayed timestamp with my local time I thought I had a couple of hours left. I've fixed it now. Hopefully I can stay on top of things for the next tournament.
A very poor run, but my best completion time so far... I'll upload the video for some comic relief. EDIT:
