The last I've seen officially mentioned on the subject is that mod approval was put on hold a few weeks ago to focus on the bigger forum picture. That being said it would at least be nice to get an update on this. I understand maps are probably quite time intensive to look at and approve and are probably being decided on a case by case basis. Baja Hills is awaiting approval however I am not going to get all messed up if it takes weeks to get approved, It is what it is.
We are not 24/7 there to monitor that page, some of us also have a life outside BeamNG, sleep, eat and etc. We do not make difference between authors (Incase you are wondering if your mods are on hold just for you). We approve mods as soon we have time to test them carefully. Incase something is wrong with a mod, we contact the author (In NO case, we do not approve a mod without letting the author know the why). Said that, Mods approval times can vary from 'A few hours' to '2 Days maximum'.
Thank you for the communication Nadeox. I am not sweating this and hope my post didn't imply that I am, because I am not. You guys are doing the best you can in an obviously stressful environment and it's very much appreciated.
I'm aware. The thing is that 'updating a mod' is handled in a different way, and for some odd reason I have no access on that part (forum bug?). Else I'd have already checked all those things. I guess it's part of the site not being 100% functional yet.
My intention isn't to air out dirty laundry, but since the discussion is already happening here and everything doesn't seem to be clear/known... I uploaded an old Gridmap 14 days ago. Version history shows only the original upload (eg it is a new upload, not an update). If the policy is to moderate new uploads within 2 days and notify the 'author' of the reason for not getting approved, this process has failed. (I realize that the term 'author' is a huuuge stretch in this case since all I did was clean up Gridmap into a totally standalone map w/ standalone scenarios.) I'd understand if that particular upload was never approved, but it seems that I should have been notified? I assumed that it might be approved and then moved over to show Author:LJFHutch like this one was: http://www.beamng.com/resources/gridmap-from-0-4-0-6.71/
That one slipped from our view I guess. Not entirely sure why it didn't got approved yet. Also, we aren't machines/robots, we can also mistake/delay on certain things. If you feel like we 'forgot' to check your mods or whatever, just drop me or @Dummiesman a PM and we will solve. Nothing bad about it
Honestly I simply thought that I was getting the cold shoulder. If I thought it was an oversight or mistake I'd have reached out! Some teams communicate much less and are much less open to modding than your team, I suppose that's what I'm used to. Anyway I appreciate it.
The devblog is beautiful!! It's so cool. No wonder it took this long. Edit: Is this supposed to be here? Products?!?! Will that include stuff like t-shirts?
But of course! There's been all sorts of spirited discussion regarding BeamNG coffee cups, key chains, blow up dolls, hats, shirts, beanies, die cast replicas, deformable RC vehicles, bumper stickers, posters....you name it. All of that and more would fit comfortably under a 'products' tab. As for the dev blog itself I think the text needs to be a little bolder and a discussion/ comment link for each release at the bottom. Overall it looks very nice, pleasing to the eye and I'm really glad it's back!
I found it at line 96 in the source code of blog.beamng.com . Best way to avoid people getting there is probably just to delete the link from the source code entirely.
ah, well... I think its good enough to just have it hidden as we are still working on that. Setting up another host just for testing is too much work ....
I've noticed the main top forum menu bar is running out of room as more tabs are added. Any plans to do a little house cleaning up there? My main complaint is having to invoke the drop down for the "what's new" tab. Perhaps shrink the search bar a bit?
