You NEED to stop optimizing only for 2-3 year old CPUs. My Core 2 Quad was getting 20-24FPS 4 or 5 updates ago now im getting 15. Arent you suppose to optimize for CPUs like mine as they have a larger market share than the I5 series im sure and there well above the required I3. Also why has support for my DDR2 memory been dropped? i just noticed the minnimum was changed from reading 4GB RAM to 4GB DDR3 which is bull. My system should be getting much better performance if you would put in the time to optimize for lower end systems. Not everyone has 300 dollars to spend everytime you decide you want to drop support for something to benefit the few that have high end hardware.

They dont keep optimising for any particular CPU generation. They optimise the game itself, a highly intensive game that is just genuinely too much for your long obsolete CPU.

It will run on your DDR2 memory, its just its hard to advertise support for a decade old technology.

By your logic i should not be losing performance with each update i should be gaining it as the game is optimized, and also my CPU is faster than the minnimum spec CPU and before you say my CPU is obsolete you should be aware it runs every other game out there from Skyrim to Fallout 4 fine (including Next Car Game if you want a better comparison)

your CPU is slower than the minimum spec CPU. Clock speeds mean jack shit. The i3 clock for clock does have a higher instruction throughput than the older P4 based architectures.

Any performance loss is not strictly due to your CPU though, I'd go and triple confirm your video settings havent been altered each patch, you do have a fairly low end GPU.

Skyrim and FO4 also mean jack shit, neither is calculating physics at 2000Hz with a few thousand datapoints.

BeamNG relies heavily on single core speed, the core 2 quads aren't exactly know for their single core speed, a overclock may bump up your fps a little. Your cpu is seriously outdated though, more than 4 generations old or about 6 years...

What the others already said basically.
We do not 'optimize' for a single CPU series/brand/generation.

BeamNG.Drive got a few changes to the specs lately (not because we require more -I will explain later in this post- , but because we adjusted the specs to what would reflect reality better).

Your CPU is 'lower' than the minimum we suggest. That alone should be enough.
We haven't dropped support for DDR2, we just made it more explicit, as DDR3 gives obvious benefits over DDR2.

The fact that you get lower FPS at each update could be the cause of various things.
What I'd think it's safe to say is that, as the game develops, some things get improved, others gets refined and so on. Some of these changes can require slightly more resources than before. That slightly can become huge on systems that were already struggling before/are under the minimum specs.

How is a DUAL CORE i3 (you were very vague by the way, are we assuming a 1st gen I3 or a 3rd or 4th gen) better than a QUAD CORE. When you didnt specify what generation I3 you meant i assumed "Hey my CPUs is better than a First Gen or 2nd Gen I3 therefore i meat minnimum specifications". So i assume by this standard a First or 2nd gen I3 would not be supported either? Can i get an example of what specific CPU you had in mind with the term desktop i3? because my core 2 quad is faster than an first gen I3 on all accounts and roughly the same as a 2nd gen.

Also to whoever said Skyrim and FO4 dont mean jack thats why i gave Next Car Game as an example as its another game with softbody physics.
And yeah my graphics settings are maxed but i get the same performance with them lowered to lowest. My GPU usage never goes above around 80 percent. and it averages about 60.

Single-threaded performance is what matters here, and the i3, even first gen, would match or beat a C2Q in single-threaded performance. BeamNG runs one car per core, so you'd run more vehicles before major lag, but until then...the i3 is just newer and faster.

Also next car game/wreckfest isn't softbody, it's rigid body.

I was to understand there were plans to make it where when one car is present all cores are used by the one car and when 2 are present 2 cores per car ETC. Is adaptive threading not a planned feature?

I suppose it might be planned... but why do we need it? If you meet the requirements, it's not an issue.

Because then more people who cant afford Intels outrageous prices for there CPUs would meet the requirements. It would allow so many more people to play.

Intel's prices are too high, yes, they need competition, but if you can afford the GPU needed to run the game, you can afford the CPU to run the game. You can use the same amount of money that buys a console to build a pc that would run BeamNG decently.

A C2Q isn't enough for any CPU intensive game these days, that's all

You try synchronising 2 threads without additional overhead.... next car game is also rigid body at a much lower update rate (at least 10 times lower)

yeah it took me a year to save up enough for my GPU which was 100 dollars used. Id need a new: Case, Motherboard, RAM, and CPU to bring my comp up to an i5 or even an i3. That would cost like 400 alone.

Get a job, mow peoples lawns or some shit. What ever american kids do for pocket money $5 a yard you would have 100 after mowing 20 lawns. I bought a used i7 950 with a full atx gigabyte motherboard and 12 gigs of ram for 105, surely you can get something decent for 100.

Specifying an exact generation is quite hard and we would need a test-case for each CPU/generation to do it 100% correctly. We just 'summarized' the specs based on what we think it's more appriopriate.
Dual Core CPU can be better than a Quad Core CPU. Depends on the generation, tech used, etc.
If you take an old Quad Core CPU and compare it to a newer generation Dual Core for example.

Also, adaptive threading is a very complex thing and may not mean more FPS on older systems.
