Hello, i`m huge fan of Street legal racing redline and I love where Beam NG is going. I would love to see project like SLRR rebirth on BeamNG engine. I believe core developers of BeamNG are unable to copyright SLRR, but community can make a mod. I can see that BeamNG can have everything what we need to make a perfect game. I would like to know if such idea is good? Im programmer myself, Ive been making mods for SLRR in its days, so I could definetalt contribute to this on my free time. Let me know what you think :)

The first time I played SLRR I was recently playing a lot of beamng but I didn't even realize that it didn't have soft body physics until about half an hour of playing and I was crashing a lot, but as much as I like SLRR I feel like a mod like this would be way too much work to make at this point in development of the base game, and even if it was later in development there would probably have to be very few AI cars and they would have to be on-rails until touched like in the original. and there is also the issue with how beams engine limits the size of terrains but a small city might work fine if it was mostly flat, honestly I'd say wait until career mode is added, make a drag racing mod and a city map and then go from there if you wanted to try to make a SLRR mod.

True, but that would probably be the hardest part to implement and would probably require mods specifically made for the mod and thats assuming it would even be possible to do something like that as a mod, IMO it's probably just best to wait for a later version when all the tuning and engine stuff is implemented.

Yes I believe it would be hard to implement, but that would take game to a completely next level. I bet it is worth the effort.

It would be possible to add the same kind of engine customization into beamng but it would be complicated, the jbeam would be complicated, i wanted to start a little project, a concept of it if you would say, but i dont have a lot of knowledge in engine specs, but making a vehicle with changeable camshafts, pistons and such is possible.

SLRR is an awesome game, but i hate it for being very unstable, which is why i barely play it sadly.

Yes SLRR is unstable. Im not talking about remaking full game with same game play. What if we can start with minor modifications, like we have now in-game? I mean doors, windows, side skirts it is already made. What we need is some shoping interface, some RPG elements, and map which is called GARAGE. But I believe we have to wait for campaign mode and see what developers have to offer... Maybe they will make something even better.

SLRR was so much ahead of it's time, it was amazing what they could do with all those bugs and less powerful hardware.

Running around the city and going for races, was quite big part of it, of course the garage too.

First there was Street Rod, then SLRR, there has been poor attempts but nothing has gotten even close to those yet. Maybe BeamNG can offer something for that, but it might need some simpler dummy vehicles as currently performance will be bit of a problem.

Street Rod way might be more feasible though, it would require possibility to load maps and store vehicle state though as you had to repair and tune car after races, wear of the parts should be implemented too etc.

I think BeamNG has best potential to be spiritual successor of that theme, I would gladly pay 30€ from official DLC that makes such possible.

Also it could be possible to include other racing and not just drag racing to that, put online features to that and if possible to make happen, it is a gold mine? Online part could be subscription based for extra cost, it would be enough interesting for paying from such and it would allow company to make it happen as bigger investment would be possible against that potential profit.

Im not the one to bug anyone about this but this is a bit of a big bump. but that doesnt matter.
I am currently working on a pretty big project which includes the engine customization in beamng. as of now there isnt much of a difference with the specs but the engine is detailed plus its also the "mc prime" from SLRR :p

Sometimes bump is good, current version of BeamNG starts to be something much better for this than what it was when thread was started.

What you are working on, seems certainly interesting, it should be illegal to tease like that :p

Is it possible to use efficiency as a multiplier tweak to get several parts to add up or does efficiency multiplier work only for turbo? Or maybe you have found better way to avoid creating really lot of parts.

as of now, some parts only modify the strength of the engine and such. but it could be as easy to change the efficiency depending on which part it is.

I think this is a great idea, indeed.
