I am now starting work on this again. Today I will mainly be working on setting up road structure if not finishing it.
I really like this idea! It would be really cool if you could have a parking garage if you weren't going to add that already!
Hey , I Found a side with some airport stuff , If you want I can texture it for you (I know that you can do this by yourself but I have some time for it ) , so here is a pic (sorry , I had no screen shot Software on my Laptop)
Well, if it is OK to use stuff from those kind of sites I would appreciate if you could texture those models.
Current progress on parking garage: I am trying to figure out how I should lay out the parking slots to utilise the full space of the garage.
I wouldn't shed any tears over street view. Street view wouldn't help you with this! All you'd get out of street view is a bunch of worthless guesses. In the absence of real-world measurements what you really need is design guideline documents. Here's one, it seems very clear and helpful to me: Parking Structure Design Guideline / Carl Walker, Inc / Prepared for: City of Lincoln This one is from a preformed concrete manufacturer and gets way more detailed I think. I think you'd find some interesting and useful stuff in here, but it's probably just not necessary. Parking Structures: Recommended Practice for Design and Construction This little slideshow seems mostly useless... but the diagram on the first page (certainly stolen from an engineering or design book) is a great reminder of some of the different parking structure layouts! Finally, especially if you find yourself stuck on some functional point I think, Google has a comprehensive 'preview' of Parking Structures: Planning, Design, Construction, Maintenance, and Repair by Anthony P. Chrest, Mary Smith, & Sam Bhuyan available here. (Click on "Preview this book >>" to see it. Most stuff seems to be there.) Once you figure out how much space you have and adjust for some of the considerations mentioned (walking distance being an important one of course!) you can just follow the guidelines.
Sounds legit for IRL stuff, but have you considered stretching it a bit for people who want to do silly things with larger vehicles? Just something to think about.
Yeah, maybe. I am trying to make this garage as efficient as possible, squeezing as many parking spots as possible in the given square footage.
