I'm sticking on Windows 7 until they get themselves together.

Hmm, do I have a "new" intel processor? Just look at my signature :p My Lenovo has been pretty good to me new or old.

Well, of course they do. Supporting older systems costs time and money.

Also, the whole "Windows 7/8/8.1 won't run on new CPUs" thing is very misleading. What it actually means is MS won't support older Windows versions on these new systems - support for new hardware features won't be added, and you're on your own if a feature required by the OS is removed from a new CPU. You can still install older Windows versions on new CPUs, they will still get security updates (but only security updates), and they will most likely run fine for many CPU generations.

Nope, only applies to Skylake and later.

    Win10 isn't bad, I still prefer 7 though. Upgraded because I'll need DX12 eventually.
I'd go for Linux if it wasn't completely useless for gaming.

Like I've said before, Windows 10 gives me a headache to use. It's like using Windows 98 in High Contrast mode.

I like Windows 10 because of direct x 12 and the start menu.

I'm fine with the way Win10 is, but I prefer Windows 7, because it just looks better. Although, that'll probably change once I get a (proper) DX12 GPU and the first games for it get released. My PC came with 8.1 btw, so I didn't notice a huge difference when switching.

Read my above post, only 8 games in my Steam library can be played on Linux, 6 of those are Valve games I don't really play often.
Wine doesn't support DX11 and will probably be a long time until DX12 support is introduced.

In short, no, you can't use Linux for gaming - unless you play a very limited selection of games.

You've just entirely missed his point, completely went over your head

A linux driver for a graphics card? THAT WASNT THE ISSUE.

And is the edit button completely lost on you?

Congratulations. Now try playing Fallout 4, or GTA V on Linux.
Oh, that's right. You can't. Those games use DX11/10, which Wine does not support.

No, good for you if all the games you like are available.

I wonder how long will it take for someone to get a CPU to 10GHZ, I mean, this is pretty close : http://valid.x86.fr/lpza4n

Sounds like a great Anti-Anger rhyme
