Turns out after lowering my overclocks to almost stock it was my 3 motherboard old windows installation that was causing me issues. *who'd a thought? * now I'm at 4.4Ghz 1.18v vcore, 1866Mhz memory at stock voltage *1.65v*. Two days later "unstable overclock."
I'll tell my father about this build. He'll be jealous inside, but cold outside, because he doesn't have freaking €3000 left.
Would 4GB of VRAM be better than 2GB of it for games etc or would it just be a waste of $30 / 20€? Also, would a 960 run on a 500W PSU or would I need to get a 600/650W one?
2GB is on the edge for 1080p, you should go with 4. As for the PSU, depends on what 500W. If it's at least 80+ Bronze and from a good brand (Corsair, EVGA, etc) it should be fine, otherwise you should get a good 500-600W PSU.
The PSU is a Corsair Builder Series CX500. The website I found it on didn't say anything about 80+, but I'm guessing it's fine, since Corsair is a good brand. And, yeah, I'm going with the 4GB 960 then, it's this one, btw http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Overclocked-GDDR5-Graphics-GV-N960IXOC-2GD/dp/B00SD9KZ96?th=0 (the OC 4GB one, it doesn't save the drop down menus in the URL) Gonna also quadruple check if both of them fit in my case.
Your PSU is fine. You should get a card with a dual fan cooler if possible, though. Will run much cooler and quieter.
I dont know what to get as an upgraded GPU... I have a 750 Ti right now but that simply isnt enough for alot of things. Also i have a GT 6000 or something in my other computer at my fathers house so i can barely do anything on the computer while im there. So i was thinking about getting something in the 300$ range, from a 770 to a 780 ti. What do you think?
The one you linked before is the single fan ITX version. That one's fine. For ~350 you can get a GTX 970. It'll run pretty much anything maxed out in 1080p60. For a bit less you can get an R9 390, similar performance, twice the VRAM, twice the TDP and the heat output of a nuclear reactor. If you don't mind not having the Nvidia features (GameWorks, Shadowplay, PhysX) and you have very good airflow and a good 750W+ PSU, the 390 is fine. Otherwise just spend a bit more and get a 970.
4.6ghz. Temps look a little hot until you remember that my cpu will never be stressed that much in a irl environment. Gonna go see if it's stable gaming. *(Edit) Gah games are crashing, needs more voltage but I think i'll just turn it back down to 4.4, until I get a suitable cooler for higher voltage.* *(Edit no. 2) got it stable by adding .020v vcore or 1.32v vcore 3 belaz's and a d15 no crashing, max temp was 75°c*
I have seen two pretty nice (so they say) liquid cooling systems that are compatible with LGA1155 on Amazon: 1.: Corsair Hydro Series H55, with one fan, costing €75.49 2.: Enermax ELC-LMR240-BS, with two fans, costing €79.65 Other systems that cost less are mostly either not available for LGA1155 or have a crappy reputation. These should not become very loud, or if they do some bloke said something about a fix that I forgot within 5 minutes.
320? Quitebig, but I remember that you're the one with his seven case fans, right? EDIT: Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate might be something then, just under €150, triple fans, 99 CFM. Or the good old Corsair H110i with dual fans (140 instead of 120mm) and even 113 CFM for just under €140.
Whow. Never heard that that could happen. I thought 4GB of VRAM would easily be enough for 2K or even 4K. But well, every game works a hell of a lot differently, and so do their graphics engines.
most of the options that use the 4th and final gig on my card make almost zero difference in how the game looks. next gen cards will have up to 32 gigs of vram so long term were good on that.
I have a dell inspiron 530 that I use as an "under the bed mp3 player" due to the fact that the Ethernet was causing a short in our old internet box (the internet modem, that is)
I think we don't have a problem with anything over 6GB, which is what the 980Ti uses. The Titan X has 12, but I think that's already a bit overkill by today's standards. With a 970 that has a little VRAM bug when using more than 3.5GB you could get minor problems with future games with ultra-high VRAM hunger though.
