The ute is still cool. Cartrucks are actually a really convenient idea - they are to full-size trucks as station wagons are to SUVs. With a cartruck you can haul large amounts of potentially-dirty cargo without all the things that make full-size trucks and SUVs antisocial - the titanic blind spots causing you to almost run people over, the gigantic size of the vehicle blocking everyone's view at intersections and in parking lots, and so on.

Nope, 'Merican born and raised. I just don't partake of our national obsession with 50 ton main battle trucks. Every time I have to drive my mother's SUV for whatever reason, I feel like I'm driving a bus. Furthermore (my favorite word today), I remember a time I was almost t-boned at a 4-way-stop intersection because there was an SUV to my right, I couldn't see the traffic, I got tired of waiting and decided to go anyway, and... nope, the cross traffic is still coming (of course).

For a while, we had small pickups like the S-10 and Ranger that, in 2WD form, could more or less fill this role (though they would behave in a significantly more "trucky" way in everyday driving), but they've all but disappeared. All that's left are the Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma, and I'm no longer sure those could really be called compact (the new Colorado is too big to count IMO). I'm not sure why, but I've heard CAFE is to blame somehow, which wouldn't surprise me.

It's coming out when the devs decide it is ready for BeamNG users and stable enough to not crash the game or have any major bugs.

Meh I actually like our landships, but I do have a special place in my heart for utes and small trucks, just out of curiosity what's 2WD?

2WD = two wheel drive. It's a term used with pickups and off road vehicles that could be had in two wheel drive or four wheel drive, would conventionally be assumed to be 4x4, but in this case are not. Since there aren't any (that I know of) 4x4 vehicles that were offered in a purely FWD configuration, "2WD" in that context is assumed to be RWD as well.

OT: It's kinda sad that this will be among the last of our known "in development" cars to get into the game; I think it's pretty cool. Anyone think that it'll have suicide doors in back?

idk whether you could count them but they have slip detection to lock in the rear wheels

Fwd on pickups is kinda stupid coz of little weight on rear axle, it makes them unstable, so even ridgeline has fwd only as option.

Those are all marketed as 4x4 "trucks" (heavy sarcasm), but are actually AWD.

the ridgeline is fwd primarily. Does not have a centre differential, it instead has a clutch Pack that is electronically engaged to divert 50% of the power to the rear axle when slip is detected at the front. Fwd until 4wd is needed.
the 2016 base models are pure fwd.

I like this car. I already like the Special, but I want something slightly newer. This suits my taste perfectly. Put some slightly wider rear steel rims and same width in the front and a slight larger engine... This might make a good sleeper. I have supplied a definition if some refined Europeans aren't familiar with a "Sleeper."

Sleeper: A car intended to have non restored details on the exterior for the purpose of assumption that it is a car of low quality, meanwhile, it has a massive power plant and is a track car.

This might work as a "power sleeper", but I don't see this land barge ever being used on a track :p

Personally, I think It'd be more fitting to make a lowrider out of it. Hydraulics, tiny wheels with the thin white wall tires, crazy paint job, and a drive by shooting.

I think guns in BeamNG are a little bit not possible right now. It might be technically possible to rig up a mounted tank cannon, or a (lagtacular, unreliable) mounted machine gun, but as for having SMGs and the like carried by occupants... eh, not yet.

Exactly. And that's not counting all the little stuff that could cause a BeamNG machine gun to jam, shake itself apart, or blow up. In a game where tree crashes tend to cause the car to get literally wrapped around the tree, all of those things seem fairly likely. Especially when you realize... JBEAMED RIFLING. Talk about a can of worms.
