I thought my first attempt at a vehicle for this game should be a conversion of one of my old RoR vehicles as it would be easier and quicker than starting from scratch. It's still taken me a week to get this far though Next step is to try and get the mesh in-game
Re: [WIP] Firebug Rock Crawler it looks good so far looking forward to having more then just one crawler in the game
Re: [WIP] Firebug Rock Crawler Is this the same as the ''MoonBuggy'' or a different type, it looks really same from the green type.. thingy... I think yours is better as its more detailed i think..
Re: [WIP] Firebug Rock Crawler Oh my, fat! youre my hero, once youre online i will PM you, i have to ask something.
Re: [WIP] Firebug Rock Crawler Hehe, I wondered how long it would be before we saw something from you
Re: [WIP] Firebug Rock Crawler Are you supposed to read the last line in the OP? Spoiler: Yes you are
Re: [WIP] Firebug Rock Crawler Is the mesh the visible part of the vehicle? Forgive me for not knowing anything about moddeling...
Re: [WIP] Firebug Rock Crawler Yes. It seems that getting the mesh properly in game is more difficult than it was in RoR, but then again Torque3D (BeamNG) is a more advanced render engine than OGRE (Rigs of Rods). The green thing is the node/beam, the physics structure. It's what makes the vehicles deform, drive, have weight, exist, stuff like that.
Re: [WIP] Firebug Rock Crawler Cheers guys I know it doesn't look much on-screen, but it's taken me over a week to get this far - lol I wanted to make sure I understood how to get the important part working first, the NB chassis, before I started adding meshes. Looking at the standard vehicles in-game, I found it quite difficult to see what was going on as the meshes blocked my view of the wireframe. I'm pretty happy with the NB now, so am slowly adding the flexbodies, starting with the rims and tyres (which I now have in-game ) This is the final body, which I guess I should have included in the first post EDIT - I managed to get rims, tyres and main frame in-game The rims and tyres work fine, but the body floats around from the NB when I drive the buggy EDIT2 - I reset the Xform in 3dsmax again, and once I'd re-exported the .dae the body worked fine
Re: [WIP] Firebug Rock Crawler Thanks very much I'm slowly adding more meshes, and have been trying to tune the tyres and shocks (< hard job!) The tyres still tear on some rocks, under hard acceleration, but the shocks feel a lot more realistic now, so I'm pretty happy. Next job is to try and get the meshes for the 2-part shocks positioned correctly
Re: [WIP] Firebug Rock Crawler Am I just being a noob and missing the download or has this not been released? I've looked at quite a few topics and can't find how to download any of them. So Since this is the Rig I want the most I figured I'd post here.
Re: [WIP] Firebug Rock Crawler Not available yet . Just give it awhile and play with what the game has to offer atm.
Re: [WIP] Firebug Rock Crawler Yes, sorry but no download yet, only pics Once I think it's finished enough to drive I'll change the thread title to BETA
