LTT has become the computer version of early 2000s Top Gear, a review show with lots of screwing around. Comparing the 730 to a Skylake iGPU, makes sense, you can get a Skylake Pentium for £50.
Yeah I would but I'm not sure what it is specifically, something tells me its CPU however the blink doesn't seem to follow any of the patterns HP lists and it just goes on forever instead of a set time. Other people have the same issue. I have two of them, one has a dead motherboard, this one (almost) has a dead motherboard. I'm starting to see a trend here...
I know, but there is a chance that some people bought an Athlon, which doesnt have an iGPU. Also, I know that all Skylakes have the same iGPU, but if he had really done that with a Pentium instead of an i7-6700K it would've come over less prejudiced. Or even better: Compare it to older iGPUs as well. The GT-series is made for giving an old system just enough graphical performance to run Windows 10 (DirectX compatibility and such, who am I even telling this).
I have two HP laptops. One is suffering from a failing CPU, the other one I use almost daily does fine. Runs cool and is reliable enough for my purposes.
I had that problem with my HP Pavillion G7. I just took out the battery, then plug it in and turn it on
I said it before and I'll say it again HP laptops are the bane of my existence. They should all be destroyed. It's not poor design that kills them, they're designed to fail, people are attracted by the low price, but the jokes on them when it dies after a year and the need to buy a new one or get said one fixed, they will either buy another HP because they're cheap or send they're old one to HP for a replacement system board, I've seen it on all budget HP laptops from the early Pentium D to present. My family members are just to cheap to buy a decent branded laptop...
Windows 10 runs on potatoes. Source: Have run Windows 10 on a potato (Intel G31) --- Post updated --- ThinkpadMasterRace
Okay. A GT-xx0 is tge definition of Potato though. By the way, LTT finally has a 212 Evo for a week now.
Eh, so I tried running the other laptop I have which is also a HP (better one) with a totally dead mobo. No lights or signs of life at all. Took it to pieces and it went into the oven for around 10 minutes at 200c, All the solder looked melted and all was fine but still no signs of life from it. I'll try my main laptop soon I suppose, although its tempting to eBay it and get something thats actually decent (aka not a hp)...
Yeah I was thinking (huehue) just that. They seem to have a pretty big following I didn't know about either so the prices are always a bit high. I also should prioritise a GPU...
yes thinkpad master race most definitely, just don't say that on reddit if you value fake internet points, everyone i've seen on reddit completley hates lenovo and refuses to ever even recommend one all because of superfish (as if other companies haven't tried something similar before either) and i most certainly agree with HP being shit laptop wise, my siblings have an HP 2000-412NR, and not only does it basically run the fan at full-speed all the time (yes i've tried using a compressed air can to get the dust out) and it STILL manages to overheat and throttle itself on even the simplest of tasks
I have a Compaq Presario 2500 with an HP NX9010 motherboard in it. (The original died.) Pentium 4 3.06GHz, 512MB RAM. You can imagine how noisy it is.
