This is the thread to share all of your stories. Like the time your brakes locked up on your taildragger and you do a stoppie on your prop. Don't be afraid to post any certifications as well.

Oh. I wish I had something to tell. I'd like to ask how you became a pilot instead

Well, let's see. I was 22 when I finally got my license, but I had been at the controls since I was 11. It took me forever because college got in the way of it. I went to a friend's flight instructor grandfather and asked him if he could teach me. He told me he could, and that he would only make me pay for fuel. Score! I still fly with him from time to time, but the altitude changes are getting hard for him to handle. If you are a pilot prospectus, you should really check out EAA Young Eagles. They will help you talk to various pilots and fly aircraft during their Young Eagles events at local airports every year.

Every time I read that people first took control of an airplane in the age of 11-14 it takes my breath. I've always wanted to be a commercial pilot. Living in US you have more opportunities then you will ever need. In my country, however, it's not that easy. My interest in aviation popped up when I was 6. I found it really interesting and started flying in flight simulators day in, day out. I still have the passion for flight, and I read about planes a lot. Thank you for providing me some information regarding to training, but I live outside the US.

Your reaction will be: "Oh no, not FS", but a story anyways:
I was flying from Istanbul to Heathrow and left the computer on during the night(expecting it to pause and turn off on top of the descend of course). When I woke up and went towards my computer I found out my AP lost a waypoint and flew to the Atlantic. There were enough reserves to get to the middle of the Atlantic. Engines shut down and I fell into the ocean from 33,000 feet. Not a real life story, but I find it funny.

Hey guys! Fly72j here. Glad to hear you're interested in going the commercial route, JedyMushroom! I'll start on this group by posting a picture of N53116, one of the planes I fly in at my flight school.

Oh, hello Sir! I actually wanted to start a conversation with you regarding to where and when you began your training.

Nice little Cessna. Go ahead and post it in the album, as well.

    It's great indeed :p
I have around 48 hours, 11 of those solo. All done in Cessna 152 type.

I assume you got a Private? Is the 152 your own aircraft? Also, are you going to go for any other certifications?

Well actually, I have been interested in becoming a pilot since I was 8. Now I'm finally able to fulfill my dreams. I live near Asheville, NC, so I happen to be close to one of the best flight schools in the state. I started my training with WNC Aviation in mid-August 2015, and due to the fact that I was waiting for approval on my FAA medical certificate and couldn't legally solo for 6 months, I have around 53 hours. Flying is definitely the way to go for me. Right now I'm doing IFR ground school at a local community college in preparation for my real IFR training coming up as soon as I do my checkride in mid-March.

How do you get to the album? I'm not very familiar with this site.

Hmm...you should just be able to go to the corner and click the add photos button. But I don't know if that's what you see.

Hmm... I don't see it. Is the button right above where I am typing now?

Wait, are all of you from the States? I'm about to cry. You just can't have such a happy scenario like "wanted to become a pilot since 5, used to fly with my dad, went to a "local flight school" (this phrase actually sounds funny) and got a license" in where I live.

I think I'll have a special part of my magazine dedicated to pilots I think

Not mine, I wish though. It was the flight school's C152s.
Yeah, I'm considering continuing my training. But maybe not right now, haven't fully decided yet, as college will be in the way soon :p.

Where are you from? I'm sure there is some way for you to get a rating.

Nah, I'm not from the States. I'm from Spain, can be a shitty place for general aviation and training too sometimes, I used to have the same thought as you not that long ago. Can I ask you where are you from?

No, go to the tab at the top labeled "Group Photos." At the bottom right you should see a blue "Add Photos" button.

Ukraine. GA is not a thing here. I'd say aerobatics—for sure. We have a festival each 7 months where maneuvers are being performed on aircraft like Yak-50. They don't offer any training whatsoever. We have a Kharkiv university of Air Force, but that's the other thing as well. Fuel prices are high, amount of flight schools is poor etc. but I think that instead of sitting and yelling how bad everything is I should do something, but what?
