Bought the game, downloaded it unzipped it and ran the program. BOOM, I get "update.exe could not be opened for writing" error and the install is completely ruined. :(

    Before you ask:
YES, I've tried running as admin.
YES, I've tried installing it to other locations on my drive.
YES, I'm running the latest DirectX.

I'm using windows 8 on a perfectly capable machine.(can play crysis with ease.)

Any help would be extremely appreciated.

BTW, If I just click ignore and let it install sometimes it says my key isn't valid(impossible) and other times it acts like it installs but upon starting it up it says either that some audio file is missing or that my machine cant run the exe file(I know it can, ive played the techdemo before purchasing this)

Can you give us more further info about the problem, by giving us the screenshot of it. just to see what the error exactly says.

Maybe some thing is wrong with Widnows.. thats why i prefer windows 7. Win 8 has always some problems with games.

I've had this game on this computer before though(didn't use a key). Can anyone else help please? Or at least show me where to go for a refund?

(Also, win7 and win8 run on virtually the same architecture and there are people on here who play it on Win8, that is assuredly not the problem.)

EDIT: I have it running now and it seems to work but I dunno. Hopefully they can look at my crash reports I sent and figure the issue out. I'd like to do a clean install of the game without internal meddling, makes me feel scared about the game's stability.

I have similar error on my pc with Win 7 (Phenom 965 BE 4 GB Ram, GTX 275, antivirus off, 2-3 months ago its work perfect)
"unable to open file for writig/ update.exe".
I check permission and it was read only, so change it and nothing.
I have also laptop with win 7 so i try instal on it.
On laptop update dont have any problems, so I copy files from laptop to PC and than try update. It doesn't work :(
    My updater is 1.5 Stable.

Can u tell me about "race" update. It's ready? I cant find any informations :(
