It won't run well on a C2D. Only MacBook it would run on would be a 2012 13" with i7 3520M or newer with Iris graphics, or any quad-core 15" with decent graphics (Iris, GT750M and up).

Hardware from 2006 will not run BeamNG.Drive properly. A first-gen desktop i7 (i7 920, Nehalem, 2008) is the oldest CPU which will achieve acceptable frame rates I guess. Maybe an overclocked Core 2 Extreme will do the job as well.

4 cores / 4 threads so I'm guessing that it will slow down after approximately 3 cars.
However, my i7 3770 does that as well after 4 cars so yeah :p

and 1 car per thread, so you can probably have 4 cars on screen in East Coast USA and be getting 40 FPS still very playable

Hm, last thread will run Windows and the rest? :p
My guess is three, but whatever.

Single thread Passmark of a C2X QX9770 is 1374, so powerful enough to achieve ~30 to 45 fps.
An i5 2400 delivers 60 fps at ease with one vehicle. Single thread 2216.

Wont run and wont take 8gb, the chipset wont recognise the upper 2gb and will fail to POST. I've tried.

I had BeamNG running on my 2010 MacBook Pro... it has an Intel Cor2Duo running at 2.4GHz, 1TB SSD hard drive, 16Gb of RAM, and an NVidia 320M graphics chip... It ran BeamNG just fine right up until they made the jump to DirectX 11... then, because of my graphics, it could no longer run the game... however, even when I could run it, I wouldn't have any problems with FPS from the physics... it was all about the graphics. It had to be on the lowest settings possible to run at a playable FPS... anything more and it was so choppy that you couldn't play. So much older then that I would be seriously impressed that it could run. Especially because of the DirectX 11 problem.

Not ULP, but it's a first gen i7 - 45nm, not very power efficient, IPC isn't very good either.
