Some PCs do have an issue with cold starts, but once you get back to ~60f it should be fine. Check for condensation on the PC, that is something you really don't want.

The news isn't as bad as it could be. Unplugged all power rails from psu except cpu, mobo and gpu and it booted now I just need to find out which rail is bad.

Sounds like something's shorted, just a fyi when people refer to rails in power supply terms they usually mean the voltages, 12v, 5v, 3v etc.

That's what I was thinking. I managed to boot up with only one drive powered on, now to see which one of my other drives was causing this.

Edited: So this is a little odd. right now It will only let me use one drive, my main windows drive. whenever I try to plug in another, boom, no boot. This is pissing me off right now. I'll try using another SATA power cable. Hopefully that works.

Hopefully Final edit: So I got the drives back up by plugging them in while the system was already on because screw it I have nothing to lose. It survived a reboot and I can still see the drives. Now hopefully I can get my other GPU back in and everything will be back to normal. This is why I should never turn my PC off again. That and cookie clicker needs to run 24/7

it does. Although seems NVidia are slow as hell on getting us our driver rollouts. I have no DX12 on my 460 which is listed by NVidia as supported.

Damn, wrote my own python script for finding the primes between 1 and a million (inclusive). Uses multiprocessing though which for unknown reasons has been removed on the uni machines :/

    Still, ipy: 7.07 seconds
    ipy64: 6.297 seconds
python 2: 47.977 seconds although notably the global interpreter lock in python prevents true multithreading on windows (even multiprocessing doesnt work on windows which on OSX&linux would cause it to work around the GIL, multiprocessing.dummy must be used which falls back on the threading API and interpreter locks again, ipy does not interpreter lock on windows).
This was a 4 thread test.

yea ebay. problem is they are not standard IDE connectors. they have a card edge connector thingy. Also they are getting super expensive. Most, but not all are made by seagate. I could pull the model number if you want. I have 3 total(IBM 5160 hdd, IBM 5160 Clone hdd, and a crosfield unix machine)

this one is in horrid condtion, but this is what they look like

I have a 30MB ST-238R just sitting on a shelf. I think it works. Nothing to test it with.
