I have not logged in in a while, mostly due to the fact that my computer and laptop life has completely disappeared BUT I was wondering if anyone will or has attempted to recreate THE GM X frame from the 50s....Google the 2009 Chevrolet Malibu vs 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air crash test, im sure most people here have seen it....the Malibu did great, the bel air not so much...mostly because there was a major design difference (unibody vs body-on-frame) however the bel air of that vintage had the X frame, which saved a lot of weight (that old Chevy was only about 200 pounds more than the svelte malibu) but it crumbled like the Dickens. Yes, the old Chevy was a bit rusty, but clearly the X Frame was a flawed design, unbeknownst to the designers, since they figured they were doing a public service by reducing vehicle weight and inherently adding more performance. Is there any accurate reproductions of the X frame in BNG as of yet? If not, who will? Not me, only a question as I do not posses the skills to do it myself.
The X frame isn't really flawed, it seems like a cheap way to reduce weight and improve performance, if anything it should be on more cars, but unfortunately because of BS safety regulations that will never happen.
