Pretty much this, I recall when this forum started out while I was going through a grammar nazi phase. It was actually a nice place to be but the quality of discussion has degraded completely as of late. Much of it is the same caliber of posting I would expect of youtube comments section. I want to see updates and progress (although I'll top myself if I see another UI rework go underway). I do get endlessly frustrated by the nonsense mentioned in the OP that crops up. Especially when it puts the devs in the position of fucking me over on the information I like to read because of the actions of people I cannot influence in any way. If it was up to me, there would be bans issued very liberally for offtopic discussion, drama and roleplay.

I'm going to honestly start ignoring users at this point just so I have the luxury of not seeing what they have to say. My question is whether I can have 80% of the forum on that list. I'd also love to see the ability to 'ignore' threads. My only interests in this forum is hearing what the developers and modders have to say, along with a select few users that make me laugh... looking at you Zappymouse.

Linking their FB page is rubbish. That'd mean people without FB (like me, and I don't want to create one) wouldn't be allowed to join this forum.

    Not enough sub-categories.

We need one for spam specifically.

Really? I've reported plenty of posts that are stupid and rule breaking, and they are almost always removed.

So another 'the forums are going to hell let's have draconian sterile police state so I can enjoy
my BeamNG life' thread. The pendulum swings with alarming regularity.

I agree with the notion the devs are too busy to handle a growing community with any precision
or fairness. I've always 'advocated' a strong PR mechanism for this community is needed not
only in community relations but in the product development/feedback arena as well.

I personally give credit and appreciate what the devs have done and stated about the issue so far.
A good blend of sensible rules with a strong statement against turning this place into an over regulated
wasteland of entitled nazi's. What is clear though is the effort is not robust enough to handle a growing
community that can adapt and stay in touch with demographic changes coming into the community.

One thing that has been suggested by the devs regarding this issue is the 'REPORT' button. Use it.
Get used to using it. It is a great way to funnel issues electronically to a central staff member who
doesn't have the time to read/respond to an avalanche of complaints about out of control threads/
    behavior.

Another option could be more intense community involvement in the moderation process. This
could be a 'self policing' scheme by a 'panel' of trusted community members that are managed
by a BeamNG staff member. They could perform moderation duties on a much bigger scale and
a person like Nadeox1 would mainly control the community moderators and perform 'end of the line'
    complaint and conflict resolution.

Multiple moderators in some capacity is nothing new and I think it's high time the devs think about
this. A robust, officially sanctioned and above all FAIR process for BeamNG forum moderation needs
to happen. 95% of what's going on around here could be fairly contained in short order with some well
thought out and enforced consistency, without turning the place into a hell hole of nagging nancy nazi's.

Lastly, whatever scheme is agreed to and implemented would need to be supported vigilantly by the
community at large to support the process in the eyes of the internet world as a whole.

    Rant end-----

They do and did do this at one time. Maybe not enough though.

    --Rant start
    oh, no, that discussion again.
Instead of complaining that the forums going shit, you can help to counter-steer by:
    - doing helpful posts
    - write longer posts
    - don't reply to shitposts, report them!
    - use the report button (yes, we actually read these things)
    - answer questions in a helpful manner
    - respond to people in a more helpful and friendly way
    - report people who are unfriendly / insulting / annoying / whatever after a certain amount of posts
    --Rant end

We will not give the control of the community into the community hands. This only raises power-hungry greedy moderators that want to rule everyone resulting in restricting the freedom of speech that swears out of control in weeks.

Thank you for the reply tdev. I know you and the other devs have put a lot of effort into these forums.

My intention wasn't just to whine, I just saw the microblogs thread going off-topic and wanted us to have a place to discuss this issue.

Are report anonymous? The reason I don't report so many posts is because I don't want to seem to seem like I'm over reporting, and potentially be punished for wasting your guys' time with too many reports.

The only reason I didn't report most of the "useless" posts to stay polite is because I don't want to spam the devs who certainly have a lot of things to do. So is it a problem if you get a lot of reports on the same post ?

But you don't need to put pressure on the dev team, I should suggest a random person on the forum to be selected to moderate the posts, it will ease the pressure and you will get more work done.

I joined this forum because I enjoyed Beamng, and I thought it would be a place were I could download mods, have a nice discussion, help people out, and have all around fun. It lasted for about a month. All the spam, the 8 year-olds screaming about bad frame-rate on a dual-core Pentium 4, the a**es complaining that the game should have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 crew cab, the people that don't know a single thing about grammar, and the people that think they know everything. People are always posting in the wrong threads, which does nothing but make it worse. I'm 13, and I don't s***post, spam, annoy, or double-post, and I use proper grammar, yet people that are twice my age that do. I'm just trying to say that the quality of this form has dropped the past few months, and if it doesn't stop, who knows what might happen in the future.

Let me see, what can potentially go wrong if some random probably too young person is in charge of punishing other people? ;)

I think I understand what you're saying. There are a lot of posts which just cause me to facepalm, but all I can do is grit my teeth and carry on with my day. It just feels a little petty to report a post just for being stupid.
