then you didnt look hard enough/arent ready. Either way, you're gonna be wanting to run a motherboard with some beefy power delivery and an aftermarket cooler.
Forget about overclocking it, it won't make any noticable difference. A II X4 965 is crap in whatever direction you turn it.
With my old hardware, overclocking is like spill a bucket of water into a creek! Anyway, MSI Afterburner is good for graphic stuff!
I got a feeling that you're going to have to overclock by changing the FSB frequency given the age of your chip. Not really for the faint hearted/ naive.
I don't think you understand what I mean. Way back in the day, you didn't overclock via changing the multiplier, you had to change the FSB speed. And I would say him overclocking his chip would make some difference, If he overclocked from 3.4 to even 4ghz, he would see gains in single core performance. The chip is what, 7, 8 years old now? I think he should squeeze the last remaining life out of it. So long as he has a decent motherboard and good matched sticks of ram, he should see fairly good overclocks, people used to hit 4.4GHz with these.
Maybe for beamng, but for games like Witcher 3 and the new hitman it's more than enough. Blame torque3d, not phenom2.
Sure it's outdated, but for all these new games that mostly tax the gpu, it's more than enough. I NEVER have gpu usage under 99 percent so I can only assume it's not waiting for the cpu. I even just went from 4.1 to 3.7 ghz for thermal reasons and I still eat Witcher3 for lunch. God save our game engine.
Did you not read the thread? You really shouldn't bother with it because you don't have a clue what you are doing, in addition to OCing that chip wouldn't provide much better performance.
