Are you sure that the ram you put in it isn't bad?

 

Yea, it and the Legend are getting stripped of all usable components, including CPUs, memory, hard drives, and expansion cards. CD drives, most PSUs and the Packard Bell cases are getting recycled, along with the motherboards and 56k modems, as I have no use for them. I'll have two ceramic Pentiums (one 166mhz, one 75mhz) with heat sinks along with a PNY QuickChip 3D (which is WinChip C6 based). The IBM's case is also getting saved.

I reverted to the "stock" ram config that was in it, alas, to no avail. I'm going to try the 32 megs I stole from the Legend, but I'm not holding my breath.

Dang I wish I lived near you, I'd give you $40 for that Thermaltake Tsunami case. I almost had a white one before the deal fell through.

the case isnt in the best shape. its also flimsy as crap. it just feels cheap
also, anyone think i should make a video of all my parts/computers explaining the specs of each one?

 

They aren't really all the common, though.

And I'd watch it, I love stuff like that.

 

wow. didnt know they were not common. i just looked on ebay, only 3 for sale. im gonna take good care of this one then. as for the video, im gonna try to make one.

 

Well, junk hardware is bye bye. The Packard Bell cousins, the Biostar Socket 7 mobo, and the Compaq bullshit I pulled my P4 keychain out of were all recycled, and I made a full and healthy $9.30.

As far as I see it, I've got a bunch of nice, vintage hardware to... I dunno, sell, collect, perhaps build something out of if I can ever actually get a really nice old computer to roll through here. Looks like I need to go out and buy a couple small bins to keep things like hard drives and expansion cards in. CPUs I don't have a clue how to store, and I know that pins down on my desk is incredibly incorrect.

 

I keep my hard drives in cardboard boxes, Ram and various cards in anti static bags, a great way to store CPU's with pins is to break the top part of a CPU socket on a dead board and just tape the CPU into it, just force the lever back and it should pop off.

So a few months ago some of you may remember I bought a dead IBM PS/2 Model 30. Well today I got it working! Just firing up my XP machine to make some floppies, man I'm stoked, I grew up with one of these things when everyone else had Pentium 2's and even 3's. I can't wait to start playing some DOS games.

 

Quick question: my friend is selling an evga 750ti acx cooling, and it has a six pin plug. Will it be able to run off of the pci socket power at a lower clock speed, or will that kill my mobo, psu, or just not run at all?

 

It has to have the 6-pin power or the computer simple won't boot. It'll actually scream at you...

I'm actually looking into bigger monitors for my auxiliaries. These 19" Dell P1911's are being dwarfed by my 27" Curved Samsung. I really want 21.5's, those would be nice.

 

Yup, I have the same problem seeing as I have an Acer 18.5" screen already and I'm soon to have 18" LG screen too, both of which are tiny compared to my 24" main tv/monitor.

LG make great monitors, I have yet to have one fail on me, not counting my 1080p led panel that I accidently threw a screwdriver at...

 

I just want to pick up VR or a 3440×1440 ultrawide. To get anything over 60hz they start at $1000 though, ouch.

 

i hav a iiyama these things are quite cool dont break and i have it for 6 years now and it only cost 200€ when it was new

 

Iiyama E2282HS. Awful speakers, no cinch-out, but pretty good picture. 150€.

 

I've just done a cpu-z test and my core speed jumps for the standard 803.7Mhz to 2209.7 and sometimes 3416.7 why is this?

 

The last one is the normal one. Check in the BIOS if your CPU clock speed is changing when not needed. If yes, uncheck that one and you'll have 3.4 Ghz all the time.
