A thread like this needs to be made seeing as we cannot comment or share our thoughts and opinions among ourselves of what the devs are showing us in their Developer Section thread. Rules: No flame-wars, this happened with previous responses to dev-work. No suggestions to the devs - there's a thread for this. Try to stay on topic; yes this can be a discussion but to a degree of pertinence. Be respectful of others' opinions. Have fun! I'll start us off: LJFHutch is creating a new map called Italy! I can't imagine how much Nadeox is excited! Looks cool! More maps are great!
Italy looks good so far ! I love the idea of having a smaller island on the side, I think bridges would render well here I'd love to see some Just Cause 3-like kind of cove and interesting by the sea twisty road Anyway, even in these early stages, this map looks awesome, and the impression of immensity is great too !
--- Post updated --- Yeah me too, I remember a Gran Turismo 4 map that was like based around a tight Itallian city. I'm not sure if he's going for a more open-world experience though.
terrain like the opening scene in fast and furious 6 would awesome especially if it had sections with no barriers and other with on and off barriers. Basically mini stone walls that are placed every couple meters but not made into a solid wall
Looks like work is finally starting on the campaign. Seems like it's going to be done in chapters, as is evidenced by this: I can't think of anything else in the game right now that "Chapter 1 Scenario" would be in reference to.
So excited to see if they include start-stop engine and realistic clutch and stalling functions! --- Post updated --- (in the next update) (i think it was already show on the "magic" white board)
What I'm curious about is how the campaign will work. I wonder if they're going to have any kind of cutscenes, or just have the little thing at the beginning of each scenario explaining what's going on. For that matter, though, I guess we don't even know if they are going to have a story, or just a basic progression to becoming a racing driver.
I think that they are just going to be missions, like race here, or deliver this. I don't think there will really be much of a story because of the way the levels are. We just have multiple small, independent levels and there isn't enough space in each level to tell a proper story. Maybe someday, when they improve the engine enough, they can connect all the current levels together with a highway system, like we already have in Utah, and then there will be enough space to tell a good story.
Just because the levels are small, doesn't mean there can't be a story. Stories have been told with much less. However, I don't think Beamng should attempt to craft any strong narrative or story. I think it should just follow the typical racing game route and have your progression be your story.
Just saw the post by tdev about the editor work they are doing. Man I'm psyched and proud of these guys. New core tools for the Torque terrain editor!.
We need a small city map, something urban or NewYorK like, It doesnt have to be huge, just lots of buildings and interesting
