Dear people and other creatures reading this, Hereby I request something that would be really awesome in the game. The thing I request is a Hybrid car. Now this shouldn't be just an ordinarily shaped vehicle, but it would be nice to make it have a dull shape and those tiny wheels that make the quarterpanels look way to big. Also, the sounds should be like a real hybrid, so that you can hear a soft engine sound when you drive faster than 30-40 MPH. It would be as satisfying as pulling off the protective foil of a windowed side panel to crash this thing. I would love to contribute to this, however I can't Jbeam, so yea, that actually was kind of useless to say.
Game cant currently do hybrid vehicles. You can only have a single powerplant, whereas hybrids have 2 or more.
Basic hybrid has an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. Some have more than 1 electric motor though.
Ah, so that's what you meant. Not that a thing with three different kinds of motors would make sense anyway.
its been done. Combustion engine front axle. Electric motor in parallel with it on front axle. Second electric motor on rear axle. AWD hybrid. Or its been done having a combustion engine in the front, twin electric motors, one for left and right back wheels. 3 power plants. Game only supports having one (which while it names engine, can be configured as electric).
I think a very good concept for future sports cars would be one internal combustion engine and four electric motors, preferably one on every wheel.
Imagine how long it would take to charge all four electric motors completely. It could take more than twice as long as the Chevrolet Volt, Nissan Leaf, and the Mitsubishi i-MiEV (59 hours) combined. But that's just my mere estimate.
you don't charge an electric motor. You charge a battery.a battery that wouldn't be any bigger... we know you're not the sharpest on the forums but come on, it's elementary my dear Watson
It is possible to make a car drive like a hybrid in BeamNG, just a torque curve drawn assuming all engine and motors are on full power. But the game won't show or simulate. the mechanical details.
It's been a while (+12 months) since I saw BeamNG Drive again and the last time I've heard, simulating MacPherson struts were by far the most difficult thing. I doubt a hybrid, especially a full electric system would be that hard. I'm basically throwing myself into the lion's den here, but as complex (and fascinating) the hybrid system of a Prius for example is, it's all managed electronically. It's just fixed planetary gearing between two motors and an engine, all controlled by the amps going in or out of the 2 motors and battery, all sent and overlooked by a computer responding to inputs from your right foot. http://eahart.com/prius/psd/ There's a huge wealth of info out there, https://priuschat.com/threads/introduction-to-prius-power-flow.29352/ all they did is hook up a reader to the OBD, drove and see the magic happen. If it's not going to attract legal attention, I have no doubt the staff would at ease be able to create a hybrid.
