I gather I have hit some limit, being just over 2000 objects in my map. Everytime I save, more stuff disappears. What gives? The stuff I put down 1st is getting taken out by the stuff put down last. Could you please fix this? I read the limit was 4096 objects - it's half that.
I've never hit this limit but I believe it is 4K something. Only thing I can think of is collision meshes being seen as .dae objects? I know I've seen that with Sketchup.
Yeah, well alls i gotta say is that what happened here is, after 2048 objects it fails to properly reference additional objects, at 2281 units, my map had weird issues trying to select stuff to remove, and a dozen or so objects got deleted that should not have. New objects were being selected @ once with old objects (the 1st ones made). Luckily I caught this before it got too bad, but I still had to restore from the backup I made when I uploaded the night before. It's really going to put a damper on things. So I fixed the screw-up, and will work around it's recurrance. Just a little disappointing that's all. They really have to work on this! It's like it's selecting it as a group. Click one thing something else clear across the map gets selected. Go from 0 items selected to 2 items selected. I saved a copy of the map this way this bug can be reproduced AND FIXED. Figures, there's never been a piece of software/game I've edited for that I haven't hit serious bugs with or limits for.
Try making the objects a vegetation mesh and use theForest to paint the meshes with the vegetation mode. Afterwards you could move the objects with the move tool in vegetation mode manually where you want them. This will hopefully fix your problem. I think with vegetation you could place a lot more objects.
First, nice midtown madness icon, I was in highschool yet in the 90s when that came out - this was before 3d GTA's were out, awesome. Secondly, on-topic, yes, I am aware of being able to paint things in with the forest brush when needing rocks, map objects, etc. Thanks for mentioning this however. My forest brush, with this being arid/semi-arid near the ocean, doesn't have anything. That's going to be in for a next-month version of the map (I'll use some of the tropical palms in JRI game-map, as I won't need to provide resources and they like heat). Thank-you for nevertheless mentioning it, as this will also be helpful to others out there making maps. EDIT: I found out what was doing it (original post bug), multiple things were being selected when I'd click on thing in the F11 map editor, under the f1 objects selection methods. If I was removing something it's easy to miss. It's still happening, but I am working around it. Hopefully nothing more is missing. It's an editor error that's linking multiple things beyond 2000-2250 units.
