Mhm, totally going to drift a Volvo 240. Yep.
(Sarcasm for those who don't know what it means)

I'll just get a car when I'm 26 I guess. No way I'm paying £1k a year for the privilege of driving some 1.0 litre corsa unless I have a serious need to, which I currently don't.

Hey, I'll have you know that I got mine like two degrees sideways earlier. Was turning at an intersection and floored it in first when I went through a big puddle, got the car ever so slightly sideways.

Next winter is gonna be fun.

I knew British insurance companies were greedy jerks, but 16 grand a year to insure an old Volvo wagon, even with the weird stance/drift/slammed/whatever subculture that might have sprung up around old FR Volvos, goes beyond greed into "What the [BLEEP] kind of drugs are they on?"

The attention that the vic gets late at night is a hell of a lot different than the attention it gets in the day.
In the day, you just get a lot of glances or blank stares, just cause it draws eyes and it's something to look at in traffic. It's irritating
Late at night, though, people get sketched out. They can't see the car itself very well and they can't see inside at all, so it's a lot harder to discern whether or not I'm a cop. Everyone at those hours seems like they're up to no good anyway. People were yielding their right of way to me everywhere.
I'm not gonna say I like it, because cops themselves also pay a lot more attention to me, but it's not as bad. People aren't looking at me like they are in the day, they're looking at the car.

Saw a Crown Vic for sale at an American Import dealership, although I do not even want to think how high the insurance would be.

lol I could probably move over there and get a house for less money than it would cost me to insure an MX-5 especially since it only has 2 seats so definitely a hooligan tax for that.

Only thing is I don't want to be killed by spiders and other large insects D:

I was wondering. If you entered the 24 hours of lemons, a junk car race, what would you enter? Your car would have to be under $500. I'd pick a 90s eclipse.

Toyota Corolla. Hands down. Slow? Yes. But it'll keep going and going and going both days.

    4.3 S10.

Junky ones can be had for about $300, it's got "enough" power, and parts are easy to find.

There is a tiny garage based "race team" with a fully caged and beat Volvo 850 Wagon. Full LeMons ready paint job to. I think they are doing the LeMons event (GP du lac) @ Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, CT next month. It's to nice for a demo car I think.

I can contest. I love my 4.3 Sonoma. It's got a little bit of "get up and go" when need be.

Yeah. But you can't go over $500. So that's why I said earlier I'd get a 90s eclipse.

$500 for the car. The budget does not include safety equipment, roll cages, and tires.
