I found this list. In single thread performance the Devils canyon cpu is right around twice as fast as my phenom 2 cpu. I don't think 350 dollars is unreasonable for twice the power, but I don't think the game I want to upgrade for will play as smooth as I want even with. I'm honestly torn. The new hit man runs flawlessly on that amd chip, in fact everything does except this game that's in alpha. I should Wait until the cpu really cant hang anymore, but will i? And does it matter?

Have you found a use for your Raspberry Pi 3 yet? I can't wait to find out what you do with it.

I got a new monitor today, but it's super annoying since my other monitor is a lower resolution and all the programs i open open on the secondary monitor, with the minimize maximize and close button cut off at the top

Damn. Was looking at the top of the line Microsoft Surface Book "laptop". Seems it can actually rival my desktop for performance D: Its also extremely expensive.

If you're looking at powerful laptops, I'd recommend an Acer Predator 15. Was actually considering buying one.
Also, 1080p on a 15" screen is enough.

I might be switching the family computer (Core2 Duo, 4GB RAM, 8400GS, unnamed) from unactivated Windows 7 to Linux. I'm not entirely sure what distro, but it'll likely be Mint.

If it's the family computer, I'd go Ubuntu purely because of its ease of use factor.

Mint is as easy to use, and runs better because it doesn't use the Unity desktop interface. I mean, I could go from scratch and build an Arch system for them... But that would be complicated and might cause confusion from family.

I'd argue mint over ubuntu for many reasons, with the main one being ease of use
