You could create a new objekt if you like, or just edit the one you had made for the n/b structure. First I would make a safefile of the n/b though, since you might want to change stuff/add nodes which is easier done in blender than the .jbeam file by simply exporting the n/b again.
would animation be like spintires where you just put a skin on the leafs and they are good to go or is it more of a lengthy process
Thank you all so much for this, this tutorial is so straight forward that I am now inspired to begin my Add-On creation with this game. I've already made Add-Ons for other games before, but this game seems the most complicated to do so for, however, I'm willing to shoot for it. --- Post updated --- --- Post updated --- Actually, this isn't as straight forward as originally thought. Also, I've followed the instructions, and the model wont show up, the jbeam does, but the game eventually crashes upon spawning a new vehicle or resetting. I'm too angry to ever try this again.
Ehh, I just said that cause I was pretty frustrated and was in a bad mood that day. I'm actually pretty willing to try again. I create content "Add-Ons" for another game using TGE called "Blockland". It's much simpler for that game haha, but I wish to step up and begin creating for BeamNG as well, so I'm giving it another shot today.
How long would it take to build a vehicle that has the same quality as the other BeamNG.drive vehicles?
I'm sort of familiar with modeling in Blender but I've never used the bake function. As such, when I got to that step in the tutorial, I get "No object or images found to bake to." I'm pretty used to Blender tutorials missing tiny steps either because the author assumed I would have a clue or because Blender is kind of wonky sometimes. I'm having no luck getting around this one, though
Make sure you have your image created first. Then enter edit mode and have all faces/vertices/edges selected and click bake. it should work.
This is where I am so far (error message included.) Is this what you mean by "have your image created?" (The shapes are a little funky. I was planning something more slab-sided for simplicity and got carried away. >_<)
By creating new image you need to make one in the uv editor and have it open. click the button i outlined then make sure its selected in the dropdown box thing
Blender experience is of course required, this isnt a blender tutorial and requires a bit of a mastery of blender already. better?
