Hey, I'm Sky and I've got a question. BeamNG was my favourite game when I noticed it. But when I saw the screens of the campaign, I was about to fall of the chair. But will it be good for the game? I don't know. Please tell what you think about it.
It wouldn't be bad- as long as free-roam stays, i probably wont use it much because my pc can only run grid map and small island usa without lag.
Not only it will be a good thing, but it will be the best feature so far, if you check all the negative reviews on Steam, they all say that the game has no point, this will be fixed with the campaign, a small story in which you can buy, personalize and race a car with some little storytelling, this will help the game to be more common among users, and so developing will be faster and we'll get a wonderful final release. At least i hope it goes this way
I think the campaign will be great... As long as the story actually resembles a story and not just a bunch of little plots that have nothing to do with each other... --- Post updated --- Multiple campaigns?!? I wonder if each will take place in a different time and map? That would be cool
I think it's fairly likely that we'll get just that. It's easier to write a bunch of little, semi-linear campaigns with specialized purposes (offroading, derby, track racing) than one big, open-ended one with all possible vehicular disciplines on display, at least in such a way as to make the story react to the player's choices. It would also be easier to bugfix smaller campaigns than a single, large one. Perhaps with time, we'll get a more lengthy campaign. Although location-specific campaigns aren't a bad idea, I'd like to see this more: http://www.beamng.com/threads/paths-and-ports-the-digital-continent-proposal.27049/ Yup. And if you check out the files, you can see that the next mission played is determined by whether the player succeeds or fails. That means you could have some kind of Deus Ex-like campaign, where the game won't always urge you to win, and even failure has a unique result.
It probably won't be finish before a long time. They need to optimaze the game engine, I means, if only 9% of the People can run it, what is the point ?
I only thing that I think is wrong with paths is that it's hard with Utah and ECUSA since, as we see in your example, there isn't a map inbetween them, so you basically pop out in Utah instead of actually driving there, what I think there should be is a map system like in 'The Crew' where there are paths, but they are seamless since the roads leading to the other map match well with the roads on that map, the only thing that tells you that your in a new location is the fact that a small message pops up saying that you entered a new place or whatever. The only downside is that it can cause lag if you have a low end computer and, if there is random AI traffic on the roads, the cars could magically disappear and new cars spawn in when going across a Path due to the fact that you are changing maps, even though those are the only downsides, it would take a long time to make enough map for the Path system I mentioned to be implemented into the Campaign Mode, but, it would be worth it in the end, as it would make it even more a realistic driving simulator. I do wonder how many different paths could be in the Campaign... And maybe they are just sorted out as different missions or save files?
Yeah i mean just that! Cuz I have a GODDAMN good computer, it runs 30 games, like WoT on maximum graphics in 40 fps. but i need low or medium in beamng. lol.
if you have low or medium in beam to sustain 30 fps then you dont have a GODDAMN good computer, also when you say runs 30 games you mean runs 30 different games not 30 games at once...
WoT isnt exactly a GPU intensive game the minimum req is 512 vram. And you probably have like a Pentium 4.
I don't think you realize that this is more of a simulation than a game by definition. Physics is extremely math intensive and needs a speedy and relatively new processor to run it.
If you look in the "campaign" folder you will see there is one they are testing for Utah. The files required for it aren't there, but it looks like the devs have set it up so people who make scenarios can very easily make a campaign, when you open the campaign list it will start off similar to the scenario menu, with a list of campaigns, but when you load it up, that's where it get different. The campaign file Utah is four scenarios put together, the first bit of info in the file sets the difficulty, the name, and the starting scenario. When you load a campaign up it will find the starting scenario and run it. From that point two thing can happen. With the current setup at the end of each "chapter" in a campaign (the end of a scenario for it) it has two options, on end, and on fail. Both of these let you put the name of what scenario to load next, so you could set it that on fail it reloads and reruns your current scenario, and then on end it goes for the next one. That's all it seems to be right now, but I imagine scenarios will get an overhaul when this comes out. I'm away from my computer right now so a few details might be slightly off, but it should all be correct (if not I will edit it later) --- Post updated --- If your having problems running the game take off all of the "apps" this is the speedometer and other such things, just enable advanced function from the option mean and then remove them, if you want them back you will have to tweak with it a little bit, but the ui for me was bringing my frame down by around 10 fps
