hey peeps, i discovered something interesting on the "game"page after you click on devblog... when you click on it, just before the video starts, a clip appears of a covet crashing into the van... now it appears for a very short duration and then the video starts playing (you can view it again by refreshing the page) but whats interesting about it is that it seems as if the covet has dirt all over the lower half of the body (i dont think its the old and rusty skin) and dirt covered tyres, also the vanster also had dirt covered wheels as well! could this be that maybe in a future update they will simulate the car getting dirty as you drive over dirt and stuff? the screenshot i included is very blurry and hazy as i captured it with my phone the best i could but you can check it out on the game page after the devblog page and refresh the page if you want to see it again after the video starts could this be a possibility?
I think those pics are from the time that game was using an older engine check the youtube page of beamng for more old trailers
hmmmmmm, perhaps the cars gwtting dirtier feature was put on hold? it is an old pic but ive managed to take a slightly clearer one, here you can clearly see that the covet does have dirt on its lower half..... maybe they put the feature on hold or something :-/
It's from the old engine. BeamNG currently uses Torque3D but used to use CryEngine3. The dirt was added to give the cars depth because reflections weren't added until the engine switchover. As well, the vegetation is yellow colored, which was only in the first few versions of BeamNG. There's likely not going to be a progressive dirt feature because the engine simply isn't suited for it.
@Nadeox1 When career mode is indeed done, will it be set up so that some enterprising no-lifer could potentially make an extra, custom campaign?
Eh, someone will probably get it. EDIT: Mitch just dropped a freaking BOMB in the clean racing thread. Apparently WCA is coming along... Of course it's still WIP, but hey, any news except "Sorry guys a hard drive crash wiped everything out" is good news. Also note the tricked out Sunburst, but we already knew something along those lines was coming.
Well, WCA got a massive head start, but last we heard the urban area was no more than a mock-up to be discarded, and I'm not sure if those were skyscrapers I saw in that video. How much time it takes to get that section up to snuff may well be the deciding factor regarding which map comes first. Italy seems to be making progress too, but remember that all we've seen of it is is concept art, early WIP files, vegetation, a graffiti wall, and a building or two - likely it still has a ways to go.
As i was watching the video it reminded me of watkins glen for soem reason although there are not many similarities to it, but as soon as i saw that corkscrew i instanly knew that it was inspired by laguna seca.
