Are The Devs going to Sell physical copies of Beamng

I was wondering if the devs were going to make and sell physical copies of beamng drive on CD/DVDs. I know it would mean a lot of pirated copies of beamng, but why not implement a game key system, which only lets you use the demo until you activate the game using a key you get in the DVD box. (BTW, I also want a better demo using the latest version of beamng, like most demos for other games. It would help to attract more players. The current demo is the glitchiest thing I've ever seen)

 

It's a good idea, but i afraid that someone is gonna make a key-gen in like 2 months

 

No they are not going to sell physical copies. That would cost too much and DVDs are becoming obsolete.

I agree about the demo using the latest version; more people would be attracted to the game with all the new sounds and features since the demo came out... You could still have only the Covet and GridMap available for use but have a few parts for customization available and gray out the other terrains/cars so demo players can see what they would get if they were to buy the full game.

I'd actually love to buy physicsl copy of BeamNG, it would cost a bit more ( to equalize production and shipping costs ), but I really enjoy having this colorful boxes with CDs/DVDs instructions/guides etc. BeamNG.Drive is the only one game I ever bought that isn't on CD/DVD. Yeah more money per sold copy for developers via humble bundle/steam, because of any wholesalers etc.

Actually .Drive it's pretty known title now so markets would buy it and it would improve sales, lots of peoples would see that game like this exists. But ofcourse after version 1.0 with all features, campaing and carrier mode. One of the best games I played I randomly bought in MediaMarkt, didn't knowing that they excist i.ex. "Crashday", "FlatOut", "ToCA 2". About piracy, it's there anyway, peoples that don't want to pay will get this game anyway, actually I pirated BeamNG in past with hope that I'll buy it later, because I just wasn't able to buy it. Simply I didn't had bank account and I didn't wanted my parent to buy it for me. If it would be in shop I'd get at release day, but ofcourse it's only hypothetical situation, as early access games shouldn't be sold in physical copies. So I hope they will sell physical copies in future, then I'd buy it once again.

Why would they sell physical copies when there are always updates?

 

I don't support physical copies, but to answer your question, the Beam installation would probably have an automatic updater since it obviously would not be through steam.

 

It probably would be through Steam. I own a lot of games with physical copies that installed through Steam.

 

Why not a "Collectors Edition" box? Some fancy box art, some concept art from the campaign, never before seen screenshots, and some other trinkets/collectables? Die cast versions of the cars, a shirt, hat or whatever. The CD will only have a steam key, just like star wars battlefront. Charge $60 for it all. No piracy risks, costs for the trinkets are covered, and everyone is happy.

I for one would love to get a collectors edition of the game.

Edit: I don't actually think the Devs will ever go through with this, I'm just giving my thought in the subject.

 

I would GLADLY pay $60 for a collector's edition if it included die-cast cars. Maybe even a special tag for you on the forums.

 

If there's a collector's edition of the game that includes a die-cast model of cars, i'm gonna run straight to the store to buy it

yea its just awesome to own a box from a game its like buying a phone and they hand it over without box

 

simple solution to piracy and retail copies. Do what 99% of current retail games do. Sell a box, dont put the game in it but a steam code instead

 

But without the key, u get a demo.

 

why bother with a demo when you have key for full game

 

No, I mean if somebody decides to pirate beamng, the only thing they will be able to do is play hevdemo, and then they might buy it instead.
