I've been the driver and/or passenger in several Ford vehicles. In my opinion, their ride is alright. Their handling is ok- not heavenly, but not garbage. The gadgets in the newer ones are pretty cool. They look half-decent on the exterior. They don't hog gas, and they have a surprising amount of get-up-and-go, which is a nice bonus. Their interior is comfortable enough- it's not Tempur-Pedic foam, but it's not plywood either. Would I shell out sticker price for a new one? Probably not (because I'm a cheapskate), but I can see the reason behind the value. People argue about aluminum, steel, or plastic body panels. Every material is able to be damaged and repaired, and all body panels, regardless of material, are engineered to keep you alive in a crash. Aluminum, while not a widespread material choice, is acceptable for use in vehicular bodywork. Those who say "I hate Aluminum, it's too soft and too expensive" make a simple mistake: comparing Aluminum to Steel. They are very different metals and behave in a dissimilar manner to one another. It's like comparing cheese and ice cream. Sure, they're both dairy products, but unless there's cheesecake involved (which for all intensive purposes... there isn't), comparing the two and expecting them to be similar is a bit illogical.
The problem comes when manufactures try to switch around what parts are made of what material. For example, you would not want a plastic bumper on a truck, or the interior trim on the to be steel. Another great example is the aluminum Ford trucks, I have a problem with this because the bed is also aluminum, and that is not a good idea for strength (which a pickup bed should have). I think it would be better to make cars out of aluminum.
I like the 80s-90s ford escorts, however my favourite is the falcon xr8 --- Post updated --- 2 is a prime number, it's not a big deal, if someone thinks a car is unreliable and the other doesn't, no biggy. I personally prefer German cars, but if someone gave me a ford I'd be damn happy.
Ford is definitely my favourite American brand, but that's not really saying much. I think their cars (I'm talking current lineup) are really good looking and they feel really well-built, but I don't like their trucks. Not because I don't like their trucks specifically, I would just never buy a pickup or SUV bigger than an old 4Runner or Nissan hardbody. I like the look of the new Ranger, but they don't sell it here so I can't really form an opinion. At the end of the day though, I drive a Honda and have owned and loved multiple Volkswagens. I'm not ready to cross the pond quite yet.
I quite like old fords, such as the old escorts and fiesta's, I also like the look of the modern fiestaand focus. I don't really like ford pickups, but I don't really like pickups that much in general.
Totally love Ford. My Family is driving Ford since 1952. We never had a big problem with any of the cars. I'm owning a Ford Mondeo Ghia "X" V6, Focus Estate Futura and two Ford Sierras at the moment. One of the Sierras is for parts. But it drove well until i took it apart. Had a lot of funny drifts with it, and it kept up
Our family farm has ran Ford vehicles forever the oldest one a 1955 and the newest is a 2016. We've only had one Chevy over the years, a S10. It was like 300 dollars on a sale. Never had a lot of problems with them.
Fords are terrible cars. Chevys on the other hand, are great. The ford F-Series will never, ever match the Silverado. It was a very bad decision by Ford to put an aluminum bed in the F-150. Chevy is great, Fords are Found On Road Dead.
I don't have loyalty to a corporation, therefore I can never understand this mentality. They're both ripping you off :/
My favourite ford is the 2011 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor specially those with a pushbar because if you bump into another car you wont damage it. They look great and the parts for it are quite cheap , also they are very reliable and safe. The only problem is the fuel consumption and paralel parking because that car is HUGE.
