Thought I'd post my screens here instead of development screens now that there's a fair bit of work done.

Everything has been made from scratch by myself using Blender. Textures are mainly sourced from CG textures.

Placement of objects at the moment is fairly random, it's all just for testing at the moment.

Comments welcome but please don't post If you have nothing sensible to say.

Below are only the new screens of the elevated railway station:
    screenshot_00026.png screenshot_00027.png screenshot_00028.png screenshot_00029.png screenshot_00030.png screenshot_00031.png

EDIT: Released as is due to no progress...

You need to manually position the train on the tracks. Try something like:

    -63.1045
    -0.0233094
    8.1773

You can select between the 2, 4, 6 and 8 car versions in the vehicle config menu.

Modding or using these assets in other maps is encouraged, however you must obtain my permission before releasing or sharing with anyone else. (This applies not only to public releases but also to beta groups, sending to friends etc.)

Yep, they are allready all functional :) Most of the pedestrian crossings are inactive, however the crosswalks on the avenue streets have a working sequence.

Are you gonna release the station on its own as well?

Thanks. Without the elevated railway you wouldn't have an elevated station. And without the city you wouldn't have an elevated railway. So in short, probably not.

The L train assets look nice, but don't let them be the starting point of the map's development. Lay out the streetplan, rivers, hills, and any landmarks out before going further if you want the map to be more than just an elevated train line. I'd also caution you not to use modular sections where they can be avoided. The human brain is annoyingly great at detecting patterns; slight curves, minor inclines, and the occasional skew in a street's heading can make all the difference in a city's believability and overall driving experience, and modular sections alone become monumentally mathematically complex after adding those things.

Lastly, if it's really going Chicago-style, don't forget the multi-level streets near rivers or coasts, and be sure to try your hand at making some appropriately art deco and boxy 70's modern skyscrapers.

I appreciate the suggestions, I wasn't aware of how large the multi-level street network is, it's something I'll definitely look into. As for the your concerns over modularity, I plan to place everything in Blender rather than Beamng. Then I can introduce slight corners, easily add sloped streets etc. I'd also like to make a mesh terrain in Blender for some coastline and city parks. Then the entire map could just be exported in sections much like on the Riverside Expressway map.

The Elevated railways are looking good, I'll be looking forward to the street layouts as well. If you need any inspiration, i'd suggest you try watching The Chicago Fire, PD and Med series, they're all in the city of chicago, so you'll get to see lots of the surroundings.

Personally, i'd love to see some of those Parking Towers they have over there, if you haven't got those planned already ;):

Impressive work so far, thanks for showing it off.

I don't know that it's going to be an issue, but you may want to make an attempt to keep polycount down if you aren't doing that already. I'm almost certainly just telling you what you already know, but these complex meshes will definitely need simple collision meshes.

If you posted other screenshots in the development screens thread, would you mind posting them here too? :)

They're not that tight actually, considering the train slows down and we didn't get a great view of the actual angle
