    Re: [WIP] Firebug Rock Crawler

Haha Okay, I've got a few of your Ror rigs. And Just really need a crawler in Beamng. I haven't downloaded any rigs for it so I was kinda confused on the way to do it. But The crawler looks great man, Keep up the great work!

Waiting anxiously for this one. Nothing like a Fat Alfie crawler lol. Maybe one day that sexy RockHer II of yours will make it's way over to Beam :p.

That's the plan - the Firebug is my 'practice and learn' rig :D

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement, btw :)

Thought i'd post, every bit of encrouagment can help in this tedious process :p. Looking good so far, i can not wait to use this in game, and even on my map in progress (thread will be up within a couple days about it). After this first map i plan to make a insance rock crawling/trails map, if all goes well ofcourse. But yeah keep up the good work!

Looking good, soon I won't have to only use the Moonbuggy for crawling!

Still progressing nicely. I've finally managed to get reflections working with the material.

I've also managed to get the tyres really soft, but very strong too, by adding extra beams to the tyres, in the same way I did for RoR. This makes the crawler feel much more planted, as it doesn't rock back and forth any more, plus it's able to crawl over mesh rocks much easier.

And lastly, Bob is back! :D I started work on adding my ragdoll driver from RoR (and from 1nsane before that). It's going to take a bit more work yet, as props behave differently in BNG than in RoR, so I'm going to have to make him a flexbody with a more complex skeleton. But even now he looks great in testing - he steers, he flops around in crashes, his head nods over rough terrain

A Good rock crawler would be so great in Beamng, But The Lack of Rock crawling support/Locking Diffs is making any kind of offroad just way too hard.. Maybe soon they'll do like Ror and setup a way to change Open/lock diffs. Anyways, On topic, This thing looks great. I can't wait to test it out alittle. What all parts are going to be able to be used? Like the Stock truck, How you can change parts, What all "Could" be done with a rock crawler? Different Trans, Engine, Wheels, axles, Suspension height, Axle width? I'd be impressed if we see all of that.

It's impressive how early the mod community is getting up and running for BeamNG.

It is the driver from 1nsane - well, BoB, to be precise :)

Btw, I could do with a few people testing this for me. Unfortunately it requires a beamng core file to be modified, so I don't want to release a beta to the entire forum as I'll have to send the modified file too. PM me if you're interested :)

I can say without a doubt this thing is bad a**. Climbs like a charm, has a LOT of power. Love the suspension design as well, cant wait for the final product :) itll be a work of art. Just thought id post a little 'teaser' picture,

Well there was a mountain just out of frame to the top left. Climbed my way nearly to the peak, had a loss of traction and down the mountain she went, only managed to hit this tree haha, loving this thing man thanks alot!

You're welcome :) Thanks for taking the time to try it out.

Hopefully I should be able to find some time to work on it a bit more over the weekend. The biggest problem I'm having so far is adding the moving parts of the suspension - knuckles especially.

BNG doesn't allow props to be placed in the same way as RoR did, and I really can't find a way of adding them for now. Either that, or I add them as flexbodies, and they distort unconvincingly :(
