I am thinking about making a new PC. I am planning on getting a PC with an 8 core FX-8320 processor, 16 gigabytes of ram, and a power color radeon HD 7750 1gb video card. I checked the requirements on the wiki, and it looks like the video card might not be good enough. Will the 8 cores and 16 gigabytes of ram make up for it, or will the video card bring the whole system down? This PC is already near the top of my price range, and I don't want to, but if needed I can, get a more expensive video card.

 

DO NOT GET THAT GPU. It will bottleneck the rest of your system like crazy. I have a quad core at 3.4GHz and 8GB RAM and my 7750 2GB bottlenecks it by like 5-10 FPS. (Agian, 2GB) My 7750 is overclocked but for some reason you can't control the voltage on the card which limits OCing.

You could trade a slightly lower end CPU and 8GB RAM for a better GPU if you don't want to spend extra money.

 

If anything, spend the extra money and get a HD 7790

 

8gb ram is more than enough. Use the extra money on a GPU upgrade, I still think the 7790 is the best bet. If not then a 7770. I use 8gb RAM with my 7970 and i5-4670k and I can max the game easily.

 

I'll be getting a MSI GT70, which is both a good and pricey notebook, with a good GPU rather to that one, I would not get that GPU you mentioned above. Like what Sam said, I would get the HD 7790, that'd a really good.

 

That is exactly what I was worried about. I'll have to spend more to get a better video card.More work. What card would you suggest? It cant be much more than 130$.

 

Like I said, you definitely don't need more than 8GB unless you are doing a ton of video editing and stuff like that. I get by perfectly fine with 8. Also, you could go with a slightly cheaper CPU. Or save money on things by re-using the case, PSU if you can, keyboard/mouse, etc.

Just to warn you, people have been complaining about AMD CPU performance in BeamNG. Some people have had better luck than others. If you want to get an Intel build I would suggest a i5-3470 or a 3570k if you intend to do overclocking, they generally tend to give better performance than the AMD vishera CPUs as the game is currently better optimised for intel systems. Finally AMD doesn't plan to release any CPUs for the AM3+ socket and the FX-9590 and FX-9370 aren't that much of a upgrade so you will have to upgrade your motherboard and CPU when your processor becomes outdated. If you live in the UK I can suggest you some builds?

Edit: In the UK you can get a GTX 580 which is much better than the HD 7790 for ~140 pounds, you may want to consider if you have at least a 600 watt PSU.

 

Get the best gpu you can afford since game's rely on it more than the cpu.

 

1. The last post in this thread is from July 2013. What you did is 'bump' the thread needlessly.

2. A good CPU and GPU are required for gaming smoothly, especially in BeamNG, where the CPU does most of the processing. A Z80 with quad SLI Titans probably couldn't run Crysis 3 at 60fps.

I have 1,048,576 times that max RAM.

 

Some modern versions (still produce those things) have higher clocks and a tiny bit more ram now should be good for crysis über edition

Does genuinely amaze me that this lpc1114fn28 I am holding here manages to be so much more powerful than a z80 (50mhz ARM cortex M0, 32kb storage and 4kb RAM) while costing less than £2. Yet in my microcontroller collection I have a more powerful board and there are higher end options still, yet they are treated like they are for embedded tasks only an should never be used for a home PC...
I might have to order a z80 to go in my collection.
