MrJohnWeez submitted a new resource: Carkour 2 - Car Parkour with 20 levels of jumps, ramps, puzzles, and skill. Read more about this resource...
I really liked this. Not sure what program you used for the modelling, but you may want to add some LODS. The map becomes quite FPS heavy at certain angles. Also, the maps feels kinda dark. Maybe it's the texture of 'roads'.
I do agree about the FPS issue especially if you look at ever model at once. I tried making .dds textures but it would not use the mini maps. I used Sketchup to model everything.
Thanks for posting this map, it looks cool. I haven't tried it yet, but I will ASAP. As far as Nadeox1's suggestion of LODs, that wasn't in reference to .dds textures (where you'd use MIP maps to reduce detail at a distance). It was a reference meshes (where you use LODs to reduce detail at a distance). Take a look here if you aren't familiar with them: http://wiki.beamng.com/Creating_static_objects#LOD_meshes There are probably Sketchup plugins available to help with the process of generating LOD meshes, but getting them into BeamNG may require some text file editing I think. I suspect that due to the small size of your resources the use of an uncompressed texture format rather than DDS probably isn't hurting you.
Just to let you know: I cheated with levels reset and checkpoints through entire map, helped myself with Ctrl+W with turning around tight spots and places you designed to drive backwards and used time slow down on rails where I needed precision (which I can't have because worn out 2 year old xbox 360 controlled). And I reset the hydrolocked car in the middle of the underwater section so I could drive out before it hydrolocked again. You can assume I like cheating and that is right assumption. No ragrets.
Is the entire last section of stage 19 [everything after the green checkpoint] supposed to be backwards? There's plenty of space to turn the vehicle around so it's hard to tell. Overall enjoyable, but not great. On my initial playthrough I chose the stock D15 and completed everything in <1hr. I'd say that the difficulty of the challenges is very inconsistent. Lots of challenges weren't challenges at all and the huge spiral wasn't particularly fun. Some challenges were exceedingly difficult, but in arbitrary ways that didn't make me feel masterful when I succeeded. No scenario - check out bnse to get resettable checkpoints. For implementation reference, see Scepheo's 3 similar "challenge" scenarios: Parking Lots, Blocks, and Warehouses. Signage: the signage could use some work. Some signs aren't visible as soon as they should be. Some signs are out of place (the sign explaining the use of the green checkpoint pads comes AFTER the first green checkpoint pad). (FWIW some of the signage could be replaced with on screen notifications in a scenario.) Some of the challenges or sub-challenges were pretty neat and innovative, I was really glad to see those. Thanks again for sharing this map and I hope you'll consider some improvements! EDIT / PS: I've just watched the promo video for "Carkour 2" and I was reminded to really stress that Scepheo has done a bang-up job on similar versions of some of these challenges. A strong example of this is how difficult the "Floating Space" section is (or actually isn't!) with the stock D15 vs equivalent sections in Blocks with the rally Sunburst. If you haven't checked that out I strongly recommend doing so! I suspect that you'll probably draw a lot of inspiration.
After 1 1/2 Hours later... I finally finished the course, with the ETK 2400ix! (Also the Driveshaft didn't broke on that impact) The difficulty of using the ETK 2400ix, was hard.
@MrJohnWeez - see my post #9 above with some thoughts and suggestions. Please note that while I mention Scepheo's stuff a couple of times as a point of reference, I believe that current game updates may have thrown off the difficulty balance a little. (I think that Blocks is currently much harder than it previously was!)
Thanks for your comment. I intended for you to go backwards on level 19 but you don't have to. As for the level difficulty, I wanted to make some hard and some easy. If you make a game get harder and harder people tend to get frustrated and quit. That is why some are easy to give the person a break. The Spiral was not meant to be fun. I wanted it to be a grind to the top (endurance) I will look into the scenarios. This is still in beta and I just wanted to see how people liked the map before I spent to much time on it. Lastly I fixed some of the sign issues you mentioned. Thanks for your feedback, ~MrJohnWeez
@MrJohnWeez - I agree with your thoughts on varying the difficulty level to prevent frustration. Just giving people a "gimme" / easy completion doesn't work though. It's got to be something that makes people feel a bit clever / accomplished in some way. That way their confidence and impetus to complete more challenges gets refreshed. IMO you want the sort of thing that makes people think to themselves "other people must have trouble with this challenge, but my skills must have been well suited for it and allowed me to complete it easily". Personally I'm not into grind/endurance. I'd say that putting an "endurance" challenge in the middle of an hour-long extreme driving course is bad design, but again that's just my take. I found that challenge to be very easy in the stock D15, it was just annoying to take that time. Maybe in other vehicles it's a challenge, but for the stock D15 there is so much room that even big mistakes do not cause a problem. Maybe a downhill spiral would be more lethal... but I'd still dislike it's inclusion. Some other people will certainly disagree with me on that point. Would you recommend re-attacking the level with a specific different vehicle? I might be interested in going through it again, but I'm not currently interested in trying random cars on a very long course to see what happens. I want an 'intentional' experience. I'm happy to provide feedback. Thanks again for making this map and posting it. I enjoy this sort of thing.

Thanks for the update but there's still a mistake at the first sign - free camera is enabled with SHIFT+C not CTRL+C
the vehicle i finished with. 42lbs of boost, 35in tires, limited slip diff and transfer case. was really fun
Go watch the pro do it (WhyBeAre), then watch a complete idiot try to make it using ALL means possible... Even cheaty camera moves. (It's all in good fun, folks. Don't take life too seriously)
