XBOX360 Controller steering somehow

So i started playing with a xbox360 controller, but i realised that when i accelerate, the steering position is a little bit off to the eight side.



Ui apps show it, Hardware graphs dont.

Make your deadzone larger. The xbox controller thumbsticks are pretty poor quality and dont always return to the centre position properly. I find I have to have at least a 20% deadzone.

 

Just curious, do you find some other thumbsticks to be superior?

 

Razer used to do an xbox 360 controller compatible, this worked with a sub 5% deadzone, was wicked.
Playstation controllers I have had working reliably with 10% and lower.

I do generally favour the xbox controller in most regards, but I do find the thumbsticks to be of poor quality, gamecube is probably only console with worse

 

Thanks for the info. FWIW I suspect that the N64 thumbstick was probably even worse. Those could get amazingly bad - there was some part which could just become obliterated over time.

 

Can confirm, my old DS3s are still accurate and centering with a 10% deadzone.

 

I used a PS3 controller with an unofficial driver and my dead zone is at 5%. The steering isn't off at all.

 

Just picked up a PS4 controller in town today. In Dolphin emulator got the deadzone down to 4%. Much better than my xbox controllers which sit at 20%. Yet to try it in BeamNG
