I was recording a video to demonstrate that the fire truck now has it's own siren.. In the end it ended up not being about the firetruck. xD
In the summer it can get above 35c in my room (95f), in the UK most housing does not have air conditioning (some people get it worse than me). So a desk fan is all I can do. In that sort of weather I don't do anything intensive with the computer to try and keep the room cool, so mostly youtube and internet. However I did make the computer freeze once when gaming in that tempreture, in that sort of weather the CPU was idling at 60c though, so not unexpected. Just be glad you have air conditioning. On a happy note. My rent is going down by over £10 a week next week xD
Some twat has smashed the fire alarm, maintenance cannot turn it off. RIP ears. EDIT: After about 12 mins they have got it sorted now. It would seem that I am the only student in the building since I am the only one who responded to it. Must have been one of the builders I guess. There are fire alarm tests at 5pm every Friday so for the first 2 mins of it going off I just assumed it was the test (it was 15 mins early), since they are often a couple hours early or late in testing it. I got a really in depth description on how the fire system works from maintenance which was cool though. Apparently the entire building has a ventilation system, so if a fire is detected the building automaticity opens the vents and turns the fans on to try to extract the smoke. The lift returns to the ground floor immediately and locks the doors open and the front entrance to the building opens automatically to let people out. If a fire is detected in an apartment only that apartment gets fire alarms going off, then if another detector picks something up the entire building is notified. Although apparently people on the top floor are notified first in order to prevent stampedes down the stairs. Then it works its way down the building in order to evacuate as quickly as possible. If no staff respond to the fire within 5 mins the fire department is automatically dispatched. So shortly after an alarm going off (way before 5 mins) they often get a call from the local fire department asking if things are ok.
I love BeamNG, I get to do silly things like put a dragster engine into a car that is completely not set up for it. I recommend it, it's disgustingly squirrely. This is the furtherst I've ever gotten in doing a circuit of the map like this and I would call this a pyrrhic victory if there ever was one :/
Speaking about weather and temperature, you could go back to July or so in my location and experience 95 degrees F with over 85% humidity. It's okay because I'm a alien who evolved on Venus.
i hate windows 10 so bad, stupid peice of shit is using tons of storage for literally no reason, can't delete the files taking up so much space either stupid start menu and cortana never works, even on a completley fresh boot with no trace of fast boot/hibernation/whatever, i click it and nothing happens, so i can't get into settings to update to the newest version which supposedly fixes it (although on another computer which had more space(so the update tool didn't complain about not having 20GB of space, which is another thing, windows 8/8.1 can be installed on 16GB of space, but windows 10 can't? fuck you eve more then microsoft, windows 8/8.1 works vastly better then 10 and can use less space, so you have no fucking excuse) it didn't fix shit, still has the exact same problem even on the anniversary edition) can't install some games without cracking them, all because microsoft has decided they not only don't support some DRM, but they outright BLOCK it from even being run, with no way to bypass it (i've tried that developer mode and manual sign stuff, didn't unblock it in any way, still showed up as blocked in event viewer) just fuck windows 10 in every way, it should have never gotten past Q&A in it's current state, and my profile gif has never been more relevant to how i feel about something in fact, it can get the fuck off my computer, 99.5GB of extra free space here i come
The reason it got past QA is because they fired their QA employees. My Win 10 tablet is stuck on some version from a while back giving constant pop ups asking me to update then failing immediately because it needs a lot of GB in order to update. More than I have free for it to use, since I actually used the tablet to do stuff. But I don't use it much these days because it has became such a crap experience. So at this point I may as well format it and get everything up to date. But since I don't use it much it is a low priority. Perhaps Linux would be nice, but I doubt the drivers exist, not sure if any Linux distros are nice to use with a touch screen. Most require heavy command line use anyway in order to get stuff done which would be a really bad thing on a tablet with no dedicated keyboard. Meh, I will just use my phone instead. Its a much more pleasant experience. SIDENOTE: I had no Idea that DeLorean still existed and are producing DMC-12's
Gotta go fast! I miss that game so much... Even that music. I wish it was easier to find around here.
Today I saw a movie called The Secret of Nimh. It was supposedly based on a book called Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh. I have not read the book so I will have to do that. The Secret of Nimh. The secret of Nickel-metal hydride batteries.
I've yet to watch the movie, but NIMH actually stands for the National Institute of Mental Health, and the film is in reference to the creepy but infinitely interesting 'Mouse Universe' experiment by John B. Calhoun. The book is based on the same.
Trying to resurrect one of my first smartphones. For some reasons, it randomly shutdowns. I have installed the factory ROM multiple times, done a Factory Reset aswell. I'm suspecting the battery may be faulty, but externally it looks good. Not too sure. How would I test a battery without the phone itself?
You'd hook an electrical load that isnt the phone upto the battery and watch that deplete, batteries dont tend to just cut midway through a discharge though, and if they do, they certainly dont just power back on
@Nadeox1 If you do use an artificial load make sure you don't over discharge the battery. You can use a multimeter to ensure that the voltage remains within an acceptable range for the battery.
You might have noticed that I posted a couple days ago in General Car Discussion about a 17 year old coworker who seems to have his heart set on racing me in his Supersonic 626 of Doom. Firsts things first, he got pulled over at 79 in a 45 the other night, apparently rushing to get home because he was tired after the closing shift. Congratulations kiddo, you're now a dues-paying member of the 310 & 6 Club. Here's your jacket and decal. Also, he apparently got his cut muffler put back together, though it's still loud and still sounds ricey. We clocked off at the same time tonight, and he proceeded to feed me a massive line of BS. First, he claimed to have an aftermarket gearbox (maybe, maybe not, still a 5MT either way, the fact that he also called his engine an "aftermarket 2.2L" when it's almost certainly the factory 110 horse unit casts doubt on that). Then, he said his no name CAI gave him 50 extra horsepower. I laughed out loud when he said that, didn't even try to hold back, told him he would get 15 if he was lucky. He then proceeded to talk about all kinds of stuff, like his buddy who has a Corvette doing 180 MPH on a stretch of road that probably wouldn't be long enough even in a freaking Veyron, then 200 on another road that probably would be long enough but makes the Nurburgring look like a billiard table, and has enough blind crests that you could ram into the back of someone before you even know they were there... then call me nutty for taking off-road bypasses in my Sunbird. That's... rich. There's nothing for it, you know. I've got to dust this kid now, on general principle if nothing else. If that sudden bout of walletary diarrhea didn't give him the reality check he so desperately needs, maybe chewing on my tailpipe will.
Sounds like the average 17yo boy racer tbh, if they are doing (or attempting) anything near what they say they are the car will likely be in a ditch within the year, since its quite likely that they can't handle the 110hp the car puts through the front wheels as it is
