I'm getting my license in about six months so I'd like to know what kinds of cars you'd recommend, Ideally I'd want something that's cheap, reliable, and easy to maintain, but with lots of driver space and a somewhat high rideheight. Other things I'd want would be slow acceleration, cruise control, AC, decent cargo space and an automatic transmission. Rusting isn't too much of a problem in the part of the US I'm from. Edit: Just realized I forgot to put in part of title...
is it a problem if its a second hand car or does it has to be new what do you prefer : suv, crossover, sedan, coupe, hatchback pickup or something else?
Slow accelaration,Automatic transmission? boo you suck. Jokes aside anywho buy a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla you can never go wrong with either of these two choices.
No not yet. I don't have any set budget but I don't even think a new car would be cheap enough to even considered, so nope second hand is fine, especially since I dont really want or trust a lot of new safety features like automatic brakeing. I WOULD prefer an suv or truck but they tend to be a bit expensive, even used so a crossover, hatchback, or station wagon would probably be the closest I could get for a low price. Yes I know, I'm terrible for not wanting to experience the excitement of sitting in traffic only moving forward a few feet at a time and having to be worried about being really gentle with the throttle, and having to constantly shift. But anyways, I was considering a Civic just because I know they sold well and are common and probably had a reason to be, regardless before I make too much of a decision on what to get I will of course do quite a bit of research.
Japanese reliability. Hondas are known to last. Or if you like the MURICAN perspective you can find some big old Ford SUVs for a grand.
If you live in Europe, I suggest the VW up!. Yes it has the exclamation point in the name. It is tiny, slow, cheap, and has a lot of the new features cars have. If you live in somewhere like the US or North America, I suggest the Ford Fiesta. Nearly the same as the VW, but open to US markets. Only has less of the features you would except.
Not sure about cruise control and if you buy with boxer engine it may be expensive to repair, but I'd suggest I or II gen Subaru Impreza 2.0 without tubo or with smaller engine in station wagon variant, should be fine. Automatic, AC, cheap, simple, reliable, "somewhat high rideheight", not too fast. Rust is Achilles heel of this cars, but if it doesn't matter it should be fine too. Also "decent cargo space".
an 8th gen ford truck (1993-1997) with an inline 6. you can beat the truck up as much as you want and the motor wouldn't care all the much. plus it's RWD and there were millions of them made
A 70s-80s Volvo, the engines last forever and they are very cheap for what they are, they are safe, stylish (don't deny, everyone loves bricks in some way), break down as much as a Ford Focus, durable, and soft interior that feels like a blanket, overall the perfect car for a new driver
1994-1997 Honda Accord sounds great for you. My brother and dad both have one, and my brothers has 290,000 miles and hasn't given up.
